CAn QUESTION ABOUT BOX SETS

do you think can would ever release the tapes that were edited together to make their albums? ZR and i disagree about this. maybe it would be too much to release completely, but could you see them doing a release series similar to the miles davis boxes? ZR thinks it's antithetical to can's process, in a way that it's not to the miles/macero process. i disagree - i could see them doin that someday. i mean, i also just REALLY HOPE they do that someday.

whaddaya think?

the last thing i want to learn is that can was really leaden and unfunky and its all smoke and tape-splice mirrors

what do you think about the miles boxes?

jack johnson one is good thanks for asking

it COULD be good, but you'd probably have to cap it at one box if you were going to do it that way. I mean there'll be killer jams that they probably left on the floor just because they could, but you don't want any more of holger drumming on the chair and going AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGNNNN than you've already got on the record, I reckon. a "complete tago mago sessions" would be a disaster for this reason.

armalite roffle (haitch), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 03:44 (twenty years ago)

they could do with getting that fucking peel sessions disc back in print, actually.

A similar thing to plsmith's suggestion, but for Popol Vuh instead of Can would be just about the best music thing imaginable for me.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 12:44 (twenty years ago)

are all the popol vuh albums made by splicing together long jams? id totally love to hear more from coeur de verre and letzge tage letzge nachte.

I dunno about all of them, but at the very least, there's a couple of numbers on "das hoheleid salomos" that sound like excerpts from longer jams.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 15:04 (twenty years ago)

I'd like to hear all the Popol Vuh albums spliced together into one really long jam.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 15:54 (twenty years ago)

there's a peel sessions disc?

apparently they once played at my university in their 'disco' phase.

tom west (thomp), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 16:29 (twenty years ago)

dan selzer OTM; that would be the best trip music ever.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 16:36 (twenty years ago)
