every time i eat an apple my mouth gets sore and my lips swell up...wtf?

it's referred to as Oral Allergy Syndrome. Google it. I have it as well. Cooked fruits and veggies are no problem, in fact, oddly enough, If I eat carrots or other veggies with any kind of dressing or dip or w/ hummus it's fine, but plain and my mouth itches. Mellon makes my mouth itch, which is sad because I love it, and Apple is the worst, my lips swell up as well. Some people wonder if it's pesticides or something on/in it. I used to love apples, don't know what changed.

do y'all ever get that thing where certain celeries make your mouth numb? it doesn't happen with all celery, only with occasional pieces.

one way to find out if it's from pesticides perhaps would be to try organically grown fruits/veggies? of course, pesticide use is so widespread there's usually residue even on the "organic" stuf.... :(

i only have this problem with uncooked apples. apple products, citrus fruits and others i have no problem with.
