Stormy Davis (diamond), Thursday, 27 April 2006 18:13 (nineteen years ago)

NYC does have that epicurean cross-cultural pollination where chinese make mexican food and mexicans make chinese food.

but mexican food in NYC sucks.

let me rephrase that, mexican food in america sucks.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 27 April 2006 18:14 (nineteen years ago)

i hear mexican food in iceland is even worse.

electro-acoustic lycanthrope (orion), Thursday, 27 April 2006 18:14 (nineteen years ago)

Are Mexicans going to basically take over the restaurant business in a decade or two (having learned every aspect of it, including how to prepare every kind of food)?

I welcome our new overlords.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 03:11 (nineteen years ago)

ps Our new overlords make a great Mexican brunch in Jersey City, right near the Grove PATH if anyone ever Fancies A Pozole

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 03:16 (nineteen years ago)

does your mexican brunch place serve posole? i don't see a lot of that in nyc.

jbr with a z (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 03:25 (nineteen years ago)

the revolution kind of backfired in a way today. at least in my office. i heard alot of "wow traffic was great today!"

city of gyros (chaki), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 03:27 (nineteen years ago)

xpost Indeed, we have pozole, and it is damn good. Very good LA-style pork tacos too, and I hear the fish ones are good as well.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 03:33 (nineteen years ago)

I heard lots of "damn, Taco Fresco is closed"

Stormy Davis (diamond), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 03:35 (nineteen years ago)

we have some decent mex here. big in nashville is paletas too. mmm... chili fudgesicle... TN has some serious mexicans because they allowed people to get legal driver's licenses with somewhat minimal paperwork. well, for a while... now the rednecks are all fired up and closed it off. jackasses. this round of immigration reform has turned the area into a pretty heated battleground of sorts. it's fuckin awful. it's times like these that don't make me very happy to be living around here. turn on the talk radio... FM radio no less, not some weirdo fringe AM station and you've got people calling mexicans criminals and shit. "just as bad as theives!" what kind of racist lunatics are these? and there was some rally at the local upper scale mall/community center against illegal immigrants... and they broadcast that over the radio too... and i'm like, "are you guys wearing hoods or what?"

fucking insane.

sorry... back to the food massage.
m.

msp (mspa), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 03:39 (nineteen years ago)

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 03:50 (nineteen years ago)

i have had ninfa's fajitas (and the accompanying refried beans) many times but only from the takeout taxi

next been to the actual restaurant(s)

walk past a couple in the tunnels every now and then

accountsettings (account), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 03:53 (nineteen years ago)

thumbs up on new mexico and southern arizona.

only best mexican food ever in america. my dad grew up in santa fe and every time he foolishly goes out for mexican anywhere but santa fe he always ends up just sighing. my mom learned how to cook new mexico style for him so i grew up eating that stuff. in my sepia-tinged childhood memories there's always a pot of pinto beans soaking or cooking on the stove. but now i can never find burritos and enchiladas like my mom's. maybe someday i'll buy a big house and my parents can live in the back and my mom can cook mexican food all the time and we'll all be happy. blue corn enchiladas!

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 04:00 (nineteen years ago)

(also tho the chinese taco place around the corner from me is ok because really for $3.50 it's hard to fuck up a bean burrito too badly, even if you do have the miss shanghai 1995 calendar on the wall)

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 15:33 (nineteen years ago)

Hahahah I've gotten tacos from that place more times...I mean, it IS hard to fuck up beans and cheese and chix from the grill. I never had the Chinese veg, but then I try not to have ANY veg.
