2) Lately, I've been thinking that Yoshimi's vocal stylings are drawing heavily from Lene Lovich.

JW (ex machina), Monday, 1 May 2006 17:40 (nineteen years ago)

have any of you heard them at victoriaville, from 2005? three songs, the middle one lasting ~72 minutes. it's just eye repeating motifs on his synths and making noise with these glowing orbs that double as gyroscopic audio interfaces. screaming. and yoshimi + two other drummers playing maybe 100 milliseconds out of time with each other. "tidal"

way better than anything they ever did as BORE.

(okay, i've only listened to super æ, spr rts 5 7 8 and vsn crtn nwsn)

lf (lfam), Monday, 1 May 2006 22:25 (nineteen years ago)

yes i have tht show

city of gyros (chaki), Monday, 1 May 2006 22:33 (nineteen years ago)

I've never heard that particular show but I've seen a couple sets that could be described as the above.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 1 May 2006 22:37 (nineteen years ago)

is this thread voore only? because i got me first ILX email today:

I will be so fucking pissed if they reissue Super Roots 4 (edition of 3). The only people who are known to possess one are myself, Kim Gordon, and Sadaharu Oh.

So here's the email dialogue from over a month ago. Not sure who Ryan is.
I answered him honestly: we're hoping to do reissues, but there will not be a box set (as tinymixtapes) reported.

Since then we confirmed we will reissue 5 titles separately. The Pitchfork story was 100% correct.

Hi Ryan-

This is not true at all, I don't know where they got this information from. We are discussing re-releasing some of the Super Roots records in the US, but nothing has been confirmed, and there will not be a box set. That will wait until Super Roots 10, whenever that will be.

Thanks for the info on Yamamoto- very appreciated.

two weeks pass...
Deitch Projects is pleased to announce 77 DRUM, a staggering 77-drum kit installation by Boredoms. For this exhibition, opening 7/7, the four band members will be filling 18 Wooster Street with 77 drum kits, which they will be using both as artwork, architecture, and principally for activation. Rivers of cymbals and mountains of drums flank the centerpiece of the show: a circular platform on which the band Boredoms will play and unprecedented two free live shows. Filling out the exhibition will be contributions by Hisham Bharoocha, Tomo Gokita, Naohiro Ukawa, and Seigo Fukuda.

I wonder if Gibson even knows that from 2001-2004 all of the tonal material of Voordoms shows was 100% derived from a CDJ playing his piece, or knows about 'Super Roots 9', I think he'd be happy. also wish we knew the name of the superfan conductor who transcribed / notated the piece

more thanks for that article btw, this is kind of an amazing connection & it's just weird the news is only coming out now 7 years later

Milton Parker, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:02 (seventeen years ago)

I bet Gibson is gonna know once he gets 700 emails from SpaceIzDaFace at gmail dot com asking for records

Whiney G. Weingarten, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:16 (seventeen years ago)

he's probably not a total square - apparently he played on "first thought, best thought"

moonship journey to baja, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:54 (seventeen years ago)

from 2001-2004 all of the tonal material of Voordoms shows was 100% derived from a CDJ playing his piece,

That's incorrect

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Thursday, 10 April 2008 22:27 (seventeen years ago)

yes well that is an overstatement. all I remember from the 2001 show was a) man he's really overdoing it with the organ pitching and b) MAN do I miss yamamotor

Not 100% sure but i think Ions is the guy that tunes the Sevena..?

Boredoms in Osaka last week was unbelievably good - started off with Yoshimi & 2 other drummers (both new) playing a super slow beat - then all of a sudden someone starts drumming at the back of the venue: it's Yojiro being carried to the stage on a bamboo platform.
They did Acid Police with all 4 drummers and a guitarist lasted at least 20 minutes... There was also so much new stuff they i don't think they've played at the recent US shows, and the whole thing felt somehow a little looser... (tho obv not quite the right word)

prior, Friday, 26 September 2008 09:37 (sixteen years ago)

They've been playing stuff from Super Æ lately as well as some afrobeaty yoshimi stuff. I kind of want to order the new remix 12"…
