sleep (sleep), Friday, 12 May 2006 13:28 (nineteen years ago)

do you guys ever put so much sugar in it that at the bottom there is tea/sugar candy slurry at the bottom? that is fun activity for kids.

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Friday, 12 May 2006 13:55 (nineteen years ago)

this is the only way to drink tea.

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:02 (nineteen years ago)

where is gygax to tell me about the antioxidants in green tea?
oh right, he's in NYC. i love that man.

electro-acoustic lycanthrope (orion), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:02 (nineteen years ago)

regular tea has antioxidants too!
you should therefore drink it with girls when given the opportunity.

i have only been drinking hippie detox loose-leaf teas, lately. no sugar anywhere.

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:17 (nineteen years ago)

wasn't there a study that said coffee has more anti-oxidants in than tea??

IS BUBBLE TEA OK? I'E NEVER HAD IT

JW (ex machina), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:22 (nineteen years ago)

it's better than ok.

i don't trust teh fish eyes.

electro-acoustic lycanthrope (orion), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:32 (nineteen years ago)

you can get bubble tea that is actually tea and you can get bubble tea that is more like juice, or flavoured tea. all bubble tea has tapioca balls in it. that you suck up with a big straw. IT IS WEIRD and you should try it. I like it, sometimes (it's been a thing in vancouver since, like, 1997, so there are all these bubble tea places, many of which are PINK and feature waving cats. fun!)

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:35 (nineteen years ago)

bubble tea fad is old everywhere man!

JW (ex machina), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:36 (nineteen years ago)

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:38 (nineteen years ago)

bubble tea/coffee is good, but sometimes i cant get past the association with that terrible orbitz drink, and i wanna puke.

SQUARECOATS (plsmith), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:38 (nineteen years ago)

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:39 (nineteen years ago)

oh man bubble tea is possibly the greatest thing ever, especially the "milk tea" versions that actually aren't tea at all but some kind of candy-milkshake-melon liquid.

I reeeeeaaaaalllly want some bubble tea now but DC is crap for bubble tea, surprise. I mean you can get it but mostly boring tea or coffee versions near me, no taro explosion :(

Allyzay Rofflesbot (allyzay), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:40 (nineteen years ago)

you can have the tea without the bubbles..just ask....but then you just have fruity milky drink.

i was recently given green bean flavour by mistake...green been milk bubble tea not what i call good

orbitz was excellent...stop the crazy talking

bb (bbrz), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:40 (nineteen years ago)

ORBITZ WAS DISGUSTINGLY SWEET, DUDE. YER OUTTA YER HEAD.

electro-acoustic lycanthrope (orion), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:41 (nineteen years ago)

green bean flavor??? YUCK

I actually have one of those bubble tea making kits at home, I should make some this weekend.

Allyzay Rofflesbot (allyzay), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:44 (nineteen years ago)

ok..the sweetness was a bit much..otherwise, genius...

i drank a lot of cherry coke then...so my sweetness meter was wrong

DC IS CRAP FOR ________

ALLYZAY R0FFLESB0T (plsmith), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:45 (nineteen years ago)

i want some lychee bubble tea now!

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:46 (nineteen years ago)

p.s.

Asahi Shinbun (newspaper) presented an article solving the question.

Raising the right hand means beckoning money.
Raising the left hand means beckoning friend or people.

The height of the hand indicates the strength of the wish. It is traditionally below its head, but recently the height is increasing especially for the right hand probably because of the economic slump of Japan. The desire of people is unlimited and cats with raising both hands appear now.

The colors means as below.
White (with red): traditional color; beckoning happiness
Black: traditional too; as a talisman
Golden: for money

Newly appearing colors
Pink: to get girl or boy friends, or for love
Green: success for entrance exam
Blue: for the well-being of family
Yellow: good luck according to Chinese Tao.

Which hand and color do you like?

pete if you have recommendations for a place IN DOWNTOWN DC that I can get to that sells what I just asked for please let me know? UNTIL THEN PLZ TO ADMIT I'M RIGHT. We have world's worst Chinatown :(

also you are banned from my house on "bubble tea day"!!!!!

Allyzay Rofflesbot (allyzay), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:48 (nineteen years ago)

bubble tea? what the plot are you lot on about?

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:50 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, Europaws!

JW (ex machina), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:52 (nineteen years ago)

someplace better than teaism, i guess? yeah, there are like 4 places in college park, though. i just sent an email to my bro whose wife is korean, so lets see what she says.

SQUARECOATS (plsmith), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:54 (nineteen years ago)

Oh ok!! See I'm ok with teaism but the bubble tea there is a little disappointing, I mean I like the flavors better than the plain black tea one, they have no options. I KNOW there is like one place in Chinatown with a limited flavor selection, and I've heard of this mythical "College Park bubble tea mecca" but haven't gone! Hopefully wifey will save the day, and the reputation. But mainly the day because I am really wanting bubble tea now.

oh hey everyone bubble tea + liquor: y/n?

Allyzay Rofflesbot (allyzay), Friday, 12 May 2006 14:56 (nineteen years ago)

whoa never dreamed it

sort of like slurpees/slushies and liquour? it seems like a good idea but you get a third of the way through and no, no it is not a good idea.

I became aware of the waving cats from seeing Sans Soleil. then i started seeing em everywhere.

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Friday, 12 May 2006 15:18 (nineteen years ago)

bubble tea is good, but if i'm going to have sugar then i'd rather have chendol.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 12 May 2006 15:22 (nineteen years ago)

Those cats have an actual name: maneki neko. I have no idea what it means. Are they for good luck?

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 12 May 2006 15:25 (nineteen years ago)

i guess i mean halo-halo, not chendol... the latter is an ingredient in the former:

http://www.jegimajo.net/images/halohalo.jpg

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 12 May 2006 15:26 (nineteen years ago)

Laurel, read the helpful internet blurb above! they come in different kinds of luck. two paws = more luck than one paw!

so is it now:
TIRED: Bubble tea
WIRED: halo-halo
?
b/c, whoa

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Friday, 12 May 2006 15:27 (nineteen years ago)

this is a way elaborate version:

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Friday, 12 May 2006 15:31 (nineteen years ago)

Lauren, if only that were an assortment of preserved meats and cheese and savory carbs...much like a plate of nacos...shit. Now I'm hungry.

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 12 May 2006 15:38 (nineteen years ago)

WHAT DO U HAVE AGAINST FRUIT & TUBERS?!?!?!

electro-acoustic lycanthrope (orion), Friday, 12 May 2006 15:44 (nineteen years ago)

an assortment of preserved meats and cheese and savory carbs
it's elaborate triple-decker sandwich time!!

(i am also now hungry)

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Friday, 12 May 2006 15:44 (nineteen years ago)

MONTREAL SMOKED MEAT

electro-acoustic lycanthrope (orion), Friday, 12 May 2006 15:46 (nineteen years ago)

Tacos + nachos = really, that wasn't a typo seriously would I do something like that?

I just like savory more than sweet, no biggie. Plus "tuber" is a terrible word.

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 12 May 2006 15:49 (nineteen years ago)

i don't really like sweets, either, but halo-halo a few times a year is nice.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 12 May 2006 15:50 (nineteen years ago)

there is FLAN in that. That is completely amazing.

Allyzay Rofflesbot (allyzay), Friday, 12 May 2006 16:06 (nineteen years ago)

Don't ask me about bubble tea, Woges. Though I may be the only 'merican TWATSONner, I've got no idea what this lot are on about either. Sounds like heresy to me.

ALLAH FROG (Mingus Dew), Friday, 12 May 2006 16:30 (nineteen years ago)

i recently had bubble tea for the first time. everyone I know likes it with the exception of my friend becca, who feels like yuking everytime she eats something jelly floating in something liquid. What I tried was good, but certainly nothing to cream yourself over.

val (notvalery), Friday, 12 May 2006 17:09 (nineteen years ago)

wow there are a lot of cum jokes on here.

i don't really like sweets, either, but halo-halo a few times a year is nice.

i'm sure it'd be nice only every once in a while, but being married to a filipino person, all their deserts are the exact same. they're all made with rice, coconut or purple yams. get's really fucking old after a while.

jäxøñ (jaxon), Friday, 12 May 2006 17:24 (nineteen years ago)

LAUREL IS FROM THE MIDWEST!!!

JW (ex machina), Friday, 12 May 2006 17:55 (nineteen years ago)
