So my next door neighbor, a really heartbreakingly nice kid in 6th grade, wants me to teach him how to play guitar. Minor issues (such as my not really knowing how to "play guitar" - I can still teach him chords and notes and tabbed songs and shit like that, just not theory) aside, I wanna make him a mix of some songs with cool/interesting guitars going on to listen to as he figures out how he wants to play.
Dude's from a really religious immigrant family tho, and listens to CCM shit. I don't wanna pull a "Your music sucks ass, David - here's some Flipper" on him - not yet - so if any of you guys have suggestions as far as stuff that's got some bitchin guitar stuff going on and is, not innocuous really, but let's start with just not explicitly blasphemous, that'd be great. Complicated music isn't bad, but if you're just learning how to play that can be sorta frustrating, so suggestions that are somewhat immediately graspable would be awesome too.
I've got some ideas but since for the most part y'all don't listen to as much bullshit as ILM I figure I'll get higher quality responses here. Thanks dudes.
