There was a free jazz group led by Beaver Harris that had a steel drum player.

Steel drum bands are fairly *noise* in general. The original Trinidad steel bands were gangs, I think.

there's this dude that plays steel drums in union square that uses a 909 drum machine as his backing. i always want to buy it off him or give him my dr rhythm.
