hook me up with a gchat to my wiz address if u want to know secret htmll cod3s

Courtney Gidts (ex machina), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 18:35 (nineteen years ago)

jon have you considered installing a site tracker on someones yellow card to monitor admin activites? ip addy location will reveal who is doing all the unbanning.

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 19:58 (nineteen years ago)

That won't work

Courtney Gidts (ex machina), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 20:42 (nineteen years ago)

css covert training ground thread

Q('.'Q) (eman), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 00:00 (nineteen years ago)

why wouldnt it work? its just an invisible 1x1 pixel. i think it can be done without java.

youd have to guesstimate page hits with removes, and winding up with a canadian ip address won't really get you anywhere with the admins. i guess proof is pretty worthless.

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 00:17 (nineteen years ago)

right, but the yellowcard only shows on threads

lord pooperton (ex machina), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 00:27 (nineteen years ago)

ask jon how to embed .wav files into board-wide yellow cards, it is such a kewl trick! i didn't even know there was a .wav in there b/c firefox disables that shit. at work, however, i use internet explorer and wow, what a fun surprise!

killy ii (baby lenin pin), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 00:29 (nineteen years ago)

i am looking at administer board right now and i can see killy's animated ballerina yellowcard .gif -- so why couldn't someone get a 1x1 pixel yellowcard that triggers a site tracker? maybe a dummy account so the logs dont get swamped with thread reads.

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 00:40 (nineteen years ago)

YES BUT HOW WOULD THE SITE TRACKER CORRELLATE UNBANS? BY THEM GOING TO THE MAIN ADMIN PAGE?

lord pooperton (ex machina), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 00:59 (nineteen years ago)

yes, by going to the page. you'd pretty much have to scroll though timestamps of page hits by geography and use common sense. considering jaymc posts about 5 mins after he gets unbanned, shouldnt be too hard.

looks like this:
http://img104.imageshack.us/img104/66/countries1iv.jpg

but the info is useless anyway

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 01:38 (nineteen years ago)

i can make an ip tracker myself you know

lord pooperton (ex machina), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 01:48 (nineteen years ago)

there must be a non technology centered way to figure out how this happens. or rather, a non technology centered way to solve it. if you really want some people to stay locked (I don't know if this is a big deal or not), just keep a list (or screenshot or whatever) of who is locked, and then check it every time you go on the board, and re-lock users as necessary. and then don't get all mad about it - in fact don't say anything about it at all, because whoever is doing all the unbanning probably thinks it's funny when you get all mad about it. eventually they would probably give up.

dar1a g (daria g), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 01:59 (nineteen years ago)

TOO MUCH EFFORT. WHY DON'T MODS JUST COPY AND PASTE LOGGING CODE

lord pooperton (ex machina), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 03:00 (nineteen years ago)

just put multiple bans on the dude so the mystery unbanner has to work harder

Q('.'Q) (eman), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 03:02 (nineteen years ago)

multiple bans are cleared by deleting one

lord pooperton (ex machina), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 03:12 (nineteen years ago)

OTM

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 09:41 (nineteen years ago)

also, we all know its Jon doing it

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 09:42 (nineteen years ago)

i'm just glad that the infinitely more dangerous LIST tags are banned

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 18:38 (nineteen years ago)

The HTML "parser" is absolute doo doo. Remember when people with images off complained that images after the 1st 100 were getting through ^_^
