it's been a long time, but I do remember shopping in Amsterdam and finding Magma and the old Dominic Priore Smile book in a record shop. No clue as to where it was though. So basically, nevermind.

There's a shop somewhere in the Jordaan called Distortion that's quite good. It should be pretty easy to find although I have no fucking idea what street it was on.

hi,
i don't post here much, but now i will, hoping i can be helpfull.
distortion is indeed pretty ok, you can look on their website http://www.distortion.nl/ for the address and a catalog.

in the utrechtsetraat are two good records stores one is get records ( website is http://www.getrecords.nl/) and concerto.
get records claims to be amsterdams finest more alternative records store, and it's pretty ok.
concerto is a lot bigger and has more variety, but probably is also less specialized.

for electronic/dance music stuff i think rush hour is ok, their website is http://www.rushhour.nl
and for hip hop fat beats is ok, check website again for address http://www.fatbeats.com/locations.php

but if you want more stores at this website http://www.channels.nl/amsterdam/all_recordstores.html
there is a list of stores, plus address and phone numbers, it just doesn't have any extra info about what kind of store it is and i don't know if it's up to date.

i hope this is helpfull.
