when i lived next to a hospital, this shit would wake me up every night. i think it was the emptying of a medical waste dumpster but who knows :/

if i were motivated, i'd make a recording of the 4 am chicken deliveries here, but unfortunately i'm usually too annoyed to even think of recording it.

6 min. of a bird doing endlessly varying birdcalls outside window in early morning. almost never the same thing twice. mockingbird maybe?

i wish i had a video camera rolling all the time cause today i was walking by a squirrel that was eating trash and i watched it for a second and it turned to me and gave me the ORLY face.

eman, what did you record that bird mp3 with?

fez (fez), Thursday, 6 July 2006 20:24 (nineteen years ago)

you can make pretty convincing "binaural" recordings with that kind of mic and it is super-sensitive. problem is it comes with really shitty windscreens. had to buy better ones before i could use it outside.

probably should have gone with something like this or this though

they're cool, but stabilty issues persist even with firmware 1.4, I've had two unrecoverable crashes right before shows. good shows. it's worked more often than not though & sounds better than a minidisc (though you can't edit on one, like you could with some of the cooler MD walkmen).

I could go on but shouldn't, I'm curious about the new Edirol

Actually MP, I've just ordered the R1, of which the R-09 is a stripped down version.

one month passes...
i got an old Sharp MD-MT99 and recorded some stuff:

music for a silent film (piano, flute and comb are played by the same guy)

seriously fucked up air conditioner (has been fixed since the time of the recording, a shame really)

PRKLTR (flezaffe), Saturday, 4 November 2006 02:18 (nineteen years ago)

air-conditioner = great, whoa! i'm inspired. inspired by an air-conditioner. i need to record traffic sounds as they're pretty inspiring too - weird rhythms come up (there is a semi-busy one-way street outside my window)

rrrobyn, the situation (rrrobyn), Saturday, 4 November 2006 14:33 (nineteen years ago)

i tried to explain noise music to some stranger at a wedding recently by talking about air conditioners. i love this.
