not getting stoned at band practice
last night, not only did i not even think about getting stoned but i didn't even drink any beer! worse yet, i didn't drink beer for Health Reasons! And i was tired by 11pm!
ohnoes.
but but band practice is fun anyway. (and we have a lot of keyboards now.)

I've quit doing anything except drinking and smoking cigarettes.

Machibuse '80 (ex machina), Thursday, 10 August 2006 16:07 (eighteen years ago) link

Are there multiple keyboardists in your band rrrobyn? I almost started a band once with another keyboard player; this was in the peak of my gearmongering, between the 2 of us and all that Rhodes and Farfisa etc we had almost a literal TON of gear.

the doaple gonger (nickalicious), Thursday, 10 August 2006 16:12 (eighteen years ago) link

see the happy face emoticon 2 thread.
we only have small/light keyboards (except for the wicked noise organ but that's not moving anywhere), balanced by heavy amps.

Wuffy the cat-rescuing dog (superultramarinated), Thursday, 10 August 2006 16:20 (eighteen years ago) link

i am keyboard person (sixtrak and moog, latter not actually mine) but richard just got this casiotone, which he might play sometimes even though he's mainly drums and sometimes guitar. it is possible that if i actually practice, i could play some drums OR drum machine and he could keyboard. multi-instrumentalists!

there is a montreal band called Unireverse and they are ALL KEYBOARDS (plus tapes and things), and they are good.

two years pass...

My high school newspaper adviser asked a bunch of us to come back to hang out and impart wisdom to the current staff. The alumni went around in a circle talking about what we did during our tenure on staff. I started

"Well 01-02 I was a staff writer mainly. When 9/11 happened we put out an Extra issue and I designed the double-page-spread on that--"

From the back of the room:

"I was in like 4th grade when that happened!"

fuck you little girl. fuck you.

three years pass...

I wanted to make some mnemonic flashcards so I went to a large stationery shop and asked if they had index cards, then realised from the look I was getting that there's no reason for anyone born in the Microsoft Office era to have any idea what an index card is.

also it will make someone feel old that I have felt free to post such a dull post on noize borad instead of pretending I wanted index cards to make sleeves for a series of 3" cd-rs featuring the sound of my fridge and the output of a perl script plugged into 37 big muffs and an akai headrush

still small voice of clam (a passing spacecadet), Monday, 10 September 2012 18:36 (twelve years ago) link

they didn't know what an index card was in a stationary store? that's kinda crazy. i don't care how old you are. they still sell them everywhere.

scott seward, Monday, 10 September 2012 18:57 (twelve years ago) link

yeah that sounds really weird to me. everyone knows what index cards are!

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Monday, 10 September 2012 19:00 (twelve years ago) link

they didn't have any! once I finally found an over-30 shop assistant to ask. and they weren't even on the computer at Argos (UK catalogue shop which sells everything, or used to). I bought some overpriced "blank wedding placecards" instead which I am going to cut along the fold and then write really small on I guess.

I'll probably go into a corner shop tomorrow and fall over a giant pile of index card packs for a tenth of the price.
