PARTYMAN (dubplatestyle), Friday, 18 August 2006 01:28 (nineteen years ago)

I was just thinking about them ten minutes ago. Not sure why.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 18 August 2006 01:31 (nineteen years ago)

Check the timestamps.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 18 August 2006 01:33 (nineteen years ago)

Meltzer said Satanic Majesties was the last real Stones-quality album they did.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 18 August 2006 01:34 (nineteen years ago)

I know you guys agree wit dat.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 18 August 2006 01:35 (nineteen years ago)

Bears? The Rolling... Bears?

ath (ath), Friday, 18 August 2006 01:36 (nineteen years ago)

satanic majesties is about half-classic I reckon.

genital hyphys (haitch), Friday, 18 August 2006 01:38 (nineteen years ago)

They had an original Satanic Majesties at a record store this weekend. It was not $35 worth of classic.

Songbirds of Darker Florida (cprek), Friday, 18 August 2006 01:41 (nineteen years ago)

i have been playing the hell out of the early albums lately

PARTYMAN (dubplatestyle), Friday, 18 August 2006 01:41 (nineteen years ago)

But significant in that moment. Whereas I can totally see the perspective later of "Yeah, they're still good, but it's not like before." (2xp)

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 18 August 2006 01:42 (nineteen years ago)

I think there's more gravitas in something like "Ride on, Baby" than in some of the later *big gravitas* songs like "Gimme Shelter."

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 18 August 2006 01:53 (nineteen years ago)

will be going to see them again in October

Stormy Davis (diamond), Friday, 18 August 2006 02:31 (nineteen years ago)

=[[ (eman), Friday, 18 August 2006 02:37 (nineteen years ago)

I regret not seeing them earlier in the year but tix (+ the money to get them) were just impossible to find at the time.

genital hyphys (haitch), Friday, 18 August 2006 02:38 (nineteen years ago)

Don't worry, they'll be back again.

and again.

and again.

...

S- (sgh), Friday, 18 August 2006 04:48 (nineteen years ago)

Meltzer is really on the money with some of the stuff in his Sticky Fingers review:

Such painfully nostalgic music, you'd think it was Los Indios Trabajaros: the older Stones no longer exist (are dead) (forever) (forget them).

Last part of "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'": are you kidding? The Stones playing (not just Santana but also) Cream?????????

"Moonlight Mile" = "Odessa" (Bee Gees). Equals it. No shit. Equivalent.

Also this:

"The Stooges got rid of Steve Mackay the great and exciting saxophone genius for reasons of irrelevance. The Stones hired a great and exciting sax bozo for reasons of irrelevance."

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 18 August 2006 04:49 (nineteen years ago)

i will not be seeing the rolling stones this year

bye, pals

cousin larry bundgee (bundgee), Friday, 18 August 2006 05:06 (nineteen years ago)

I got a first-press German Satanic Majesties for 8 euro or something like that last year. It is SO WARM.

trees (treesessplode), Friday, 18 August 2006 05:15 (nineteen years ago)

Aftermath never gets stale for me. Satanic Majesties is cool. When I get in the Stones mood these days, it's Metamorphisis, all kind of kinky-blues and glam-bisexual.

m coleman (lovebug starski), Friday, 18 August 2006 13:51 (nineteen years ago)

i paid like $20 for mine...and the fucking hologram has faded terribly in the last 5 yrs, which i just dont understand. its not like i keep it in the window and blast it with condensed oxygen everyday...you can't see all the beatles faces anymore, for some reason

i'll stand up for it. it manages a nice uk trippy thing with the dark swagger only the stones can pull. it has a vibe ive never found on another record...not for lack of trying

i also spent way too long trying to do the maze on the inside one afternoon before realizing it wasn't possible...goddamned chemicals

i go to metamorphisis pretty often when i go for the stones too...its almost always beggars, though, hands down...

elmo argonaut (allocryptic), Friday, 18 August 2006 16:58 (nineteen years ago)

aftermath is sick. beggars banquet is the tops. love exile and sticky fingers. can't roll with the arguments that their post-early '70s stuff is 'great', though.

gear (gear), Friday, 18 August 2006 16:59 (nineteen years ago)

though some of it's really good

gear (gear), Friday, 18 August 2006 16:59 (nineteen years ago)

i just saw steve mackay a couple months ago he wasn't that awesome.

M@tt He1geson: Real Name, No Gimmicks (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:24 (nineteen years ago)

Alicia Titsovich (sexyDancer), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:33 (nineteen years ago)

Even though it's bad, I just love that "Flowers" album. I can't help it, I'm a sucker for those guys.

Drew Daniel (Drew Daniel), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:36 (nineteen years ago)

this track is amazing

mentalismé (sanskrit), Friday, 18 August 2006 22:14 (nineteen years ago)

mentalismé (sanskrit), Friday, 18 August 2006 22:15 (nineteen years ago)

the eunuchs, Cassim and Mustafa, who guarded Abdur Ali's harem (orion), Saturday, 19 August 2006 03:34 (nineteen years ago)

'get off of my cloud' used to be my favorite until i realized that his neighbour wanted him quiet, and not the other way around.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 23:42 (nineteen years ago)

eh it was freezing. like 30 F. anyway they played "Sway" -- my fave Stones song EVER (and never seen 'em do it in 5 prior shows) -- and "She Was Hot" from the always underrated Undercover lp -- first time they'd EVER played it live, according to Mick's intro

Stormy Davis (diamond), Thursday, 12 October 2006 03:53 (nineteen years ago)

yeah i read somewhere that they were doing sway on this tour.

AWESOME song. not awesome enough where it would justify paying for the tix but awesome none the less.
