in brooklyn all shirts are screenprinted

how much is reasonable for my band to expect to pay per shirt for 100 single-image hand-screened american apparel shirts? [enough with the caps lock diarrhea.]

how many colors required to print the image? one- or two-sided print?

elmo argonaut (allocryptic), Wednesday, 23 August 2006 12:55 (nineteen years ago)

one-sided, one color

Lazy Comet (plsmith), Wednesday, 23 August 2006 12:58 (nineteen years ago)

a good rate probably will depend on how much production capacity the screenprinter has, but the going wholesale rate for good quality one-side one-color print is around $7, give or take. you shouldn't be paying any more than that, and you could probably get a break for ordering in quantity (it all depends on the printer, though).

is that including the price of the shirts? i was quoted $10, including the shirts, which is about right for AA short sleeves.

Lazy Comet (plsmith), Wednesday, 23 August 2006 13:15 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, $10 seems a bit high, but hand-screening probably adds to labor cost or whatever.

set-up costs (like shooting the silkscreen etc) are probably included in that rate, too.
