yeah not sure about detroit stuff, maybe Dance Tracks? 3rd St and 1st Ave in the village

I don't really go to that many out-of-the-way places, just most of the ones everybody knows about, Other Music, Mondo Kim's on St Mark's, Academy, Turntablelab (prob. have some detroit reissues), Etherea, Sound Fix. A1 and Sound Library are kinda expensive but they have pretty good stuff.

the sound library is good for browsing/drooling and making a list of
things to look for elsewhere. definitely worth visiting for the selection, but their prices are generally high since they deal with a lot of serious collectors and musicians and such.

yeah, it sounds like halcyon would be lfam's sort of place. dance trax maybe, but thats more classic dance sounds.

for reasonable prices hit eat records and academy on n6, tho i don't think there's much in the way of techno

For Detroit Techno the best stores are Sonic Groove, Throb and Temple. Wait...those stores are all gone! Techno is dead! When you get back to Ohio go to Dan Curtin's techno store in cleveland, Deep. Wait, that's gone too.
