Murder murder murder
Someone should be angry
The crime of the century
Who shot little Bambi
Never trust a hippie
'Cause I love punky Bambi
I'll kill to find the killer
In that rotten roll army
All the spikey punkers
Believers in the ruins
With one big shout
They all cry out
Who killed Bambi?

tim its not about hating the sixties or punk being better. it's about over reverant worship, as exhibited by the so-called underground (see Jack Rose, Jay Babcock, etc).

x-post: my friend says, "what could be worse than the fact that those people breed?"

trees (treesessplode), Friday, 20 October 2006 21:19 (nineteen years ago)

speaking of trees, thats what i meant
i was looking for a new euphemism for wizard smoke, figured the mispelling of reverent might work...
who wants to breed, though?

just trying to keep the taxonomy straight. actually where i said yuppies who like to get high it should say "middle-age suburban professionals who like to get high."

Forsythe Jones (Grodd), Sunday, 22 October 2006 06:03 (nineteen years ago)

keto, you need to give lessons in picking exactly the right targets. you skip the easy ones, yet stray straight into provocatives.

the only thing i have to say really, cause i'm not good at picking targets, is that i see the 60s underground failing either by:

a) going mainstream and selling out... turning the peace generation into the war on terrors.

b) being unable to escape marginalized, underground status and organize a better future out of their recycled paper bags.

and so you get most undergroundy folks in that generation being a product of both those things. stuck somewhere in the middle. either grossly square with a total repudiation of their youthful idealism vs so fucking tin foil hat burnt that no one can take them seriously.

i guess i wonder, what can we learn from their fuck up?

Young & strong Hollywood son
In the early morning light
This star fell down
On Sunset Boulevard

Young & strong beautiful one
One that we embraced so close
Is gone
Was torn away

Let the youth of America mourn
Include him in their prayers
Let his image linger on
Repeat it everywhere

With candles with flowers
He was one of ours
One of ours

Why don't you let him be?
He's gone
We know
Give his mother & father peace
Your vulture's candor
Your casual slander
Will murder his memory
He's gone
We know
And it's nothing but a tragedy

Lay to rest your soul and body
Lay beside your name
Lay to rest your rage
Your hunger and amazing grace

With candles, with flowers
You were one of ours
One of ours

I saw cameras expose your life
I heard rumors explode with lies
I saw children with tears
Cry and crowd around the sight
Of where you had collapsed that day
Where your last breath & word
Had been sighed
Where your heart had burst
Where you had died

I saw how they were lost in grieving
All half-believing you were gone
The loss and pain of it
Crime and the shame of it
You were gone
It was such a nightmare raving,
"how could we save him
From himself?"
