oh-kaaaayyyy.
I think the best part is that this one is VOLUME FIVE, meaning there are still AT LEAST FOUR VOLUMES!!&!@

there are few things i love more than the folkways science series --also search: fog horns, junkyards, frogs of north america.

Sounds of the OFFICE is a personal fave. but yeah, they all rule

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 29 October 2006 07:16 (nineteen years ago)

I love train records. I have a bunch, atlthough strangely I never picked up any of the volumes of the Folkways series. most of mine are on off-labels like "Audio Fidelity" and what-not ...

another huge thing is hot-rod records. There are literally millions of those fuckers. i.e. "Sounds of the Hot Rod". "Sounds of the Talledega Speedway", "Sounds of Daytona Speedway with and without the Restrictor Plate", etc. it's a beautiful thing

this is weird b/c a fahey song just came on (my computerworld) that starts with train whistling! (a raga called pat) train sounds = awesome.

ooh, owls - i need that too - and records of industrial workplaces, like the sound of welding and bandsaws and chains of machines clinking

rrrobyn, the situation (rrrobyn), Monday, 30 October 2006 16:04 (nineteen years ago)

does anyone listen to the folkways podcast? it's more about... folky stuff... but it's pretty good, 24 nice little 1-hour radio documentaries about the label and its artists
