I voted for Jane Kim for sf schoolboard.

I first met her at my friend Jay's bday party after she complimented me on my shoes.

Jay and I went to dinner the other night and afterward we stopped by Jane's house because Jay's girlfriend was there.

Jane has music equipment in her living room and her and her roommate were playing Katamari Damacy! That was pretty awesome.

But regardless of personal details, she's a strong candidate and I voted for her based on her platform.

NOT VOTING on some of the bond issues on CA ballot because they're very complex and should be handled by legislature.

Seattle Initiative 1: should the city enforce new regulations on strip clubs (brighter lighting, a 4-foot rule between dancer and customer, no backrooms, etc.) ?

REJECTED

jergins (jergins), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 23:46 (nineteen years ago)

tammy duckworth isn't in your district, dude.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 23:51 (nineteen years ago)

i'll still feel bad, dude.

An acquaintance of mine, a former record-store owner and fellow bass player, was on the ballot for GOVERNOR. It was really weird to stand there in the polling place and see in front of me the name of a guy with whom I did whiskey shots in a van once.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 00:12 (nineteen years ago)

fair enough, dude.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 01:15 (nineteen years ago)

NOT VOTING on some of the bond issues on CA ballot because they're very complex and should be handled by legislature.

most useless reason not to vote ever

the 48 states competition (1939) (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 01:34 (nineteen years ago)

No, I voted! But some of the ballot measures are like "Do you want the state to spend 10 billion on X over four years and 14 billion on Y over ten years and then 200 zillion on Z over the next 42 years" and then all you get in arguments is:

Pro: CALIFORNIA MUST HAVE NEW TRAFFIC LANES BEFORE THE "CRISIS" HITS!!! and THE CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE AND THEY WILL SUFFER IN SCHOOLS WITHOUT THE 42 ZILLION!

and...

Con: TaXpAyErS aSsOcIaTiOn SeZ "NO ON PROP. NUMBER WHATEVAH!!!!"

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 01:41 (nineteen years ago)

So I say nuts to you Schwarzenegger - let the legislature do its job plz.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 01:42 (nineteen years ago)

tim, i'm very against the initiative process, but while it exists i think it's important to support good bonds like affordable housing and public transit funding and prevent evil libertarian shit from passing.

the 48 states competition (1939) (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 01:52 (nineteen years ago)

voted to restore voting rights to felons after incarceration in RI

elmo argonaut (allocryptic), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:01 (nineteen years ago)

I agree. Putting an initiative like 1B here in CA on the ballot is ridiculous, though.

xp

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:03 (nineteen years ago)

tonight I had the distinct pleasure of casting my vote for Jerry "The Iceman" Butler (it actually says "The Iceman" on the official ballot.) That was pretty noise.

I also got to vote *NOT* to retain the POS judge that convicted me back in April.

there were actually like 4 judges on the ballot that I'd stood in front of for one reason or another.. sheesh.

also got to vote on a referendum to get us the fuck out of Iraq, thank you Cook County...

Stormy Davis (diamond), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:25 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, I almost forgot -- my most noize vote was definitely my nod to perennial whackjob candidate Healy for Lt. Gov. of RI. COOL MOOSE PARTY!! Admittedly a bit of a gag vote on my part, but how can you not love this?

"Since I am running for the Lieutenant Governor of Rhode Island, and since I intend to abolish the office, I have no political plums to put on the table. I won't be able to give someone's drunken, deadbeat brother-in-law a job or hire an idiot just because he or she is the son or daughter of some politically connected hack. This being so, I cannot see any reason for anyone other than myself to spend money in support of my campaign."

"I honestly feel that the money would be better spent on fixing the problems facing Rhode Islanders. Therefore, I am asking my supporters to follow my lead and make a donation or donations to their favorite local charity."

elmo argonaut (allocryptic), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:48 (nineteen years ago)

Dude have you ever seen him on 195 or 95. I waved to him once and he was rad!

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 09:11 (nineteen years ago)

stenc, the Green guy (Howie Hawkins) was the antiwar candidate this time.

http://hawkinsforsenate.net/

And I voted for Malachy McCourt (Frank's brother) for guv because I remember him fondly as an unapologetic atheist call-in host on WMCA in my childhood. (He also played a priest who got strangled on Oz.)

Met a friend last night who KNOWS failed Libertarian candidate Dr. Finger, and DIDN'T vote for him.

My voting machine was "sticky" and I had to write-in a few votes. Rent IS too damn high.

Dr. Alicia D. Titsovich (sexyDancer), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 15:45 (nineteen years ago)

not if you're homeless :(

rems (x Jeremy), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 16:10 (nineteen years ago)

the only thing you need to vote is an address, right? Rent is the cost of our "freedom."

Dr. Alicia D. Titsovich (sexyDancer), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 16:23 (nineteen years ago)

i had to change my official residence to vote in 2000, thus revealing to the tax collector that i was now a nyc resident, thus adding on city tax.

outcome? voting for hillary cost me $600

manute lol (sanskrit), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 16:27 (nineteen years ago)

manute lol (sanskrit), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 16:27 (nineteen years ago)
