UnSuggestions for Fruits by Shoichi Aoki
Atlas shrugged by Ayn Rand (expected 5.6, found 0; unsuggestions)
Mere Christianity : a revised and amplified edition, with a new introduction, of the three books, Broadcast talks, Chris by C. S. Lewis

jhoshea megafauna (scoopsnoodle), Friday, 17 November 2006 16:24 (nineteen years ago)

Last book I read (Cosmic Trigger by Robert Anton Wilson) is the enemy of Devil Wears Prada, Nick Hornby, Zadie Smith, John Grisham, Margaret Atwood, Roald Dahl, William Shakespeare.
The book I read before that (Wild Highway by Bill Drummond) has no enemies because not enough people read it.

I think the best way is to find books to read by using this:

probably worth at least a minor investment. i like his short stories. and copies of the wind-up bird chronicle are dime-a-dozen at used bookstores.

:-\

If you change your mind, Alfred Birnbaum is very easily the best Murakami translator. Unfortunately, he stopped translating prior to The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle (although he did translate the first chapter when it was published as a short story in The New Yorker, now collected in The Elephant Vanishes... so you can do a side by side comparison if you're truly THAT curious).

Search his translations of:
Pinball, 1973
Hear The Wind Sing
Norwegian Wood (his translation is pretty hard to find, it was only published in Japan about 17 years ago)
Hard Boiled Wonderland And The End Of The World
A Wild Sheep Chase
Dance Dance Dance
The Elephant Vanishes (short stories, half of which are translated by Birnbaum)
Underground (non-fiction, half of the accounts are translated by Birnbaum)
