12. I was at Trader Joe's today. Lines were long. A woman behind me was yelling nastily at her child, and it was taking all of my concentration not to turn around and call her out for being a shitlady. A gorgeous West Indian girl in the next line put her hand on my shoulder and told my I needed to relax. We started talking. I was a teacher, she was a teacher. We stepped out of line. 20 minutes later, we exchanged numbers. Before I left she tied my shoe for me.

yeah that was my first try, it was on @ friend's account and neither of us really knew how to do anything but i found this flamingo and i copied it and made it really big and aqua and then i put it on top of my friend's house made out of american flags to block people's view of the strip club next door but then when i teleported the flamingo was following me so i was the guy who had a huge aqua flamingo flowing him around while we were looking to buy a penis and we ended up at this sex mall and this message kept playing build it good, make it sexy then we met this guy called the utopia urchin perks lancaster - it was pretty sweet.

rrrobyn, Monday, 16 July 2007 22:40 (seventeen years ago)

My wife works intermittently as a voice actor for animation and such, so we kind of think of LA as an inevitability. But she has an awesome NYC writing job right now, so it's on the back burner.

Jon Lewis, Monday, 16 July 2007 22:43 (seventeen years ago)

I live here but it don't look like this no more:

admrl, Monday, 16 July 2007 22:44 (seventeen years ago)

I have this novelist I obsess about, James P Blaylock. And he always writes about Orange, CA. Every book is set there. So I figure if we move to LA I can take a trip there and experience the Blaylockian atmosphere.

Jon Lewis, Monday, 16 July 2007 22:49 (seventeen years ago)

ohmygod i wish it still looked like that
xpost - i will have to check out those books

rrrobyn, Monday, 16 July 2007 22:50 (seventeen years ago)

haha i've been to orange

get bent, Monday, 16 July 2007 22:50 (seventeen years ago)

I esp recommend for starters The Paper Grail, All The Bells On Earth, Winter Tides and The Last Coin. And his short story collection. There's also a few period pieces novels set in victorian England.

Imagine that "American Magical Realism" might mean something good and non-cheesy, and that would be Blaylock.

rrrobyn, Monday, 16 July 2007 22:57 (seventeen years ago)

admrl, Monday, 16 July 2007 22:58 (seventeen years ago)

Jon Lewis, Monday, 16 July 2007 22:59 (seventeen years ago)
