reading IS fundamental!

David R., Tuesday, 6 March 2007 16:08 (eighteen years ago)

"Ghosts of American Astronauts" is a way better song than "Dead Flowers"

gbx, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 17:37 (eighteen years ago)

i don't even know the guy

gbx, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 17:38 (eighteen years ago)

i expected a stronger showing for "no"

ghost rider, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 01:28 (eighteen years ago)

you know what i like to do, ghost rider? i like to get drunk and sing this song with my friends when we're camping

gbx, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 02:25 (eighteen years ago)

man that sounds like the only kind of camping i want to do, gbx

ghost rider, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 02:55 (eighteen years ago)

dude don't get me wrong ... i've late-nite sang (and played -- just D-A-G right? with a C on the chorus?) this tune about a zillion times. maybe I'm just burnt out. but "Wild Flowers" is way-better Gram-friend from the alb. and the Mekons tune is heavenly.

Stormy Davis, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 03:56 (eighteen years ago)

seriously, seeing the boys rock "Sway" last October means I can die in peace

Stormy Davis, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 03:56 (eighteen years ago)

i see yr point stormy but the idea of being burnt out on dead flowers and not wild horses is kind of blowing my mind!

dead flowers has mick jagger's borderline offensive hillbilly voice which i like better than his ballad voice because my appreciation for mick jagger is based at least 25% on my crazy theory about his instinctual insincerity being poignant and tragic.

ghost rider, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 04:31 (eighteen years ago)

"wild horses" is such a rich composition, though.. realy!

jagger hillbilly: "Torn And Frayed" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "Dear Doctor" >>> "Dead Flowers" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>"Far Away Eyes"

Stormy Davis, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 04:36 (eighteen years ago)

see i even like far away eyes! is that the last time he used that voice?

ghost rider, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 04:39 (eighteen years ago)

oh boy do i ever like torn and frayed

gbx, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 04:42 (eighteen years ago)

ugh, I hope so! he got rid of the hillbilly for that ridiculous caribbean accent on "Luxury." that's totally my most hated Mick song of all.

I forgot "Country Honk" though! put it midpoint btwn "Dead Flowers" and "Far Away" i guess

dude, have you heard that alternate studio mix of "Dead Flowers"? I will Leonardo...

Stormy Davis, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 04:45 (eighteen years ago)

ya gbx, "Torn and Frayed" is so pretty, that Al Perkins steel guitar solo is so sweet and perfect

Stormy Davis, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 04:47 (eighteen years ago)

yes pls to leonardo!

ghost rider, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 04:51 (eighteen years ago)

omg totally

gbx, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 04:54 (eighteen years ago)

it's pretty cool! Mick's vocal sounds more slurred, and the piano is a little more prominant on the break .. subtle, but different...

Stormy Davis, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 05:08 (eighteen years ago)

i was fine with this thread when it was about ghost rider. then it got into some other shit.

jaymc, Sunday, 18 March 2007 06:50 (eighteen years ago)

I kept hoping it was about the Urinals.

dan selzer, Sunday, 18 March 2007 14:47 (eighteen years ago)

daria-g, Sunday, 18 March 2007 16:46 (eighteen years ago)

actually, i think my favorite song is 'are you that somebody' by aaliyah! so not noize
it's kind of goth though

i like 'far away eyes,' it's so ridiculous & over the top. i used to think he said 'listening to gospel music on the college radio station".. :) i mean.. why wouldn't you, our local college radio played it on sundays
