someone is going to get hurt at this show, i can feel it.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 8 March 2007 14:18 (eighteen years ago)

blues control is in lexington on saturday
very excited about that too.

brock, Thursday, 8 March 2007 19:24 (eighteen years ago)

sweet on the blues control!

beers sort of depend on what you want out of a beer location... seediness? selection? smoke free or not? live music or no? good microbrews vs. grandpa's piss? + food?

m.

msp, Friday, 9 March 2007 03:45 (eighteen years ago)

aw man i am jealous i wanna see blues control sometime!

tehresa, Friday, 9 March 2007 03:51 (eighteen years ago)

I thought the Lex Blues Control show (at The Icehouse) wasn't until 3/23? I hope so, I have to do Important Family Thing on Saturday night in Louisville. If it is still on the 23rd though I will be there, I will bring extra beers just in case.

The Icehouse just totally rules. Here are a couple tips though: 1. you need to BYOwhatever, 2. if you are anything like 5'10" or taller, duck when going into the bathroom, or you will be headwounded.

nickalicious, Friday, 9 March 2007 15:38 (eighteen years ago)

Is that former Pitchfork staffer Br0ck K@pp3rs?!?!?!?!?

David R., Friday, 9 March 2007 16:39 (eighteen years ago)

JW, Friday, 9 March 2007 18:03 (eighteen years ago)

thursday 10 pm = TNV/Cllockcleaner (Nashville)
Friday 6pm = sapat/vblues control (Louisville)

brock, Monday, 12 March 2007 21:05 (eighteen years ago)

as for drinking, the springwater (27th and poston) is a good choice, but not too close to the funhouse (where times new viking are playing).

molly mummenschanz, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

msp, the funhouse is on chestnut street, past ft. negley. (edgehill becomes chestnut at 8th ave, and it's not too far from that).

molly mummenschanz, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 17:47 (eighteen years ago)

Is the TNV show tonight in Nashville really at 10pm?

molly mummenschanz, Thursday, 22 March 2007 18:44 (eighteen years ago)

10pm is really likely. man, i don kno f i can go.

RAR!

msp, Thursday, 22 March 2007 23:29 (eighteen years ago)

Was Br0ck the dood who N4th4n V4squez was like 'woah lots of new faces man' about?

molly mummenschanz, Friday, 23 March 2007 06:45 (eighteen years ago)

I was gonna talk about how much ass TNV kicked. And we got the split single. Clockcleanerz didn't play due to puking members. Evidently Adam from TNV couldn't play in Memphis due to the barfs?

molly mummenschanz, Friday, 23 March 2007 06:47 (eighteen years ago)

lols. molly, do i know you?
m.

msp, Saturday, 24 March 2007 01:01 (eighteen years ago)

m: m4rty?

molly mummenschanz, Saturday, 24 March 2007 04:22 (eighteen years ago)

nah. actually, i'm thinking we probably don't know eachother. mostly because about the only people i ever talk to at shows are chr1s dav1s or 0ptic audi0 chr1s. so it goes1
m.

msp, Saturday, 24 March 2007 05:42 (eighteen years ago)

oh! but chr1s d4v1s is my friend! while i have yet to go to a musical picnik, i have been to a bunch of shows at ruby green (rhys chatham, jsopehine foster x 2), dino's (rip), etc. i am tall. i have a radio show on 'rvu. not so much noize, though.

molly mummenschanz, Saturday, 24 March 2007 20:07 (eighteen years ago)

eh, there's more than noise out there. :)

we're possibly familiar faces.. .it's not like there's a TON of people at those shows. rvu is great.
m.

msp, Saturday, 24 March 2007 21:39 (eighteen years ago)

this is entirely possible! it IS kind of sad that not so many folks show up. there were a lot of folks for tony conrad, but only a handful for both jsphine foster shows, which was a total shame. i've only been in town for about a year and a half, so i don't know too many people. rvu is pretty okay! the community djs are pretty great. the students, meh. not so much. my show is k4r4oke bl4ckout, which is on tuesdays at 8am.

molly mummenschanz, Sunday, 25 March 2007 01:01 (eighteen years ago)

the town has classic troubles with attendance. i blame it on band fever... too many folks in bands, not enough scene that just comes out for bands. so you only end up going to your shows because that's all the time you have between practice and/or supporting your friend's bands. of course, then there's people like me who get caught up in their personal lives and miss show after show for all kinds of mundane reasons. i swear, missing both the tnv and blues control shows this last week...

moldly man over the hillward. i'll check the show out... tuesdays at 8am i'm driving to work. :)
m.

msp, Sunday, 25 March 2007 05:50 (eighteen years ago)

i'd totally agree with that, esp. with the missing shows for mundane reasons ("oh, i have to go to work in the morning" or "urgh, the sound sucks at the mercy lounge. sorry, vashti!"). so many bands, so little time, etc. also, i'm sort of lazy.

sidenote: the funhouse was *this* close to being derelict. i was worried it was going to topple down mid tnv-set.

yes! tuesdays from 8-10am. that's me!

molly mummenschanz, Monday, 26 March 2007 02:53 (eighteen years ago)

i'm pretty sure i've been to the funhouse. 310 chestnut possibly? used to be an old record factory, now it's occasionally an art space and has shows randomly.

saw circle and urdog there. good times.
m.

msp, Monday, 26 March 2007 03:02 (eighteen years ago)

i think it's in the 400s on chestnut, amongst a bunch of factories and barbed wire. it seems like burnt out old house (which is directly across from the sounds' guitar scoreboard). it's a total shithole of a house, but kind of great, if you don't mind the bare electrical wires and holes in the floor.

molly mummenschanz, Monday, 26 March 2007 03:46 (eighteen years ago)

lolz. at this rate, springwater's going to start seeming classy.
m.

msp, Monday, 26 March 2007 04:12 (eighteen years ago)

sadly, the springwater's class factor (men's bathroom, afternoon customers, etc.) is leaps and bounds beyond this place. i don't think the funhouse even has functioning plumbing (i could be wrong - i didn't want to explore too much for fear of falling through a floor).

and what's with this town's lack of decent bars? i have no local (well, it could be douglas corners or mafiaoza's, but who wants that?). the neighborhoods (at least on my side of town) aren't conducive to a drunk stumble home. /end rant
