I have Yogi and Traditional Medicinals teas at home, however here at work my options are: shitty office coffee, shitty office decaf, water.

nickalicious, Monday, 26 March 2007 17:20 (eighteen years ago)

i have switched over to iced coffee!

Catsupppppppppppppp dude ‫茄蕃‪, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:14 (eighteen years ago)

the ice waters down your coffee though!

Mr. Que, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:24 (eighteen years ago)

coffee ice cubes!

lauren, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:25 (eighteen years ago)

also, good cafes account for this and brew double strength for the stuff that's going to be iced.

lauren, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:25 (eighteen years ago)

yeah okay, that's a good idea.

Mr. Que, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:27 (eighteen years ago)

You didn't know that? Are you Canadian?

Catsupppppppppppppp dude ‫茄蕃‪, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:28 (eighteen years ago)

haha no i just stay away from iced coffee

Mr. Que, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:29 (eighteen years ago)

also, good cafes account for this and brew double strength for the stuff that's going to be iced.

yeah, there are rogue dunkin' donuts out here that don't know how to make a cup of iced coffee and i wind up with a watered down mess when it's halfway done.

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:29 (eighteen years ago)

see? that's fucked up!!!!

Mr. Que, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:29 (eighteen years ago)

i was going to say, dunkin' donuts is a notorious offender in that area.

lauren, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:30 (eighteen years ago)

i wouldn't trust iced coffee unless i made it myself

Mr. Que, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:30 (eighteen years ago)

i never had a problem with d&d ANYWHERE before moving to chicago.

plus the d&d on harlem & lake, if you want cream and sugar they put it in AFTER the iced coffee. wtf? the coffee goes in last!

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:34 (eighteen years ago)

there is an awesome bakery a block from my place that makes phenomenally strong iced coffee. i should have gone there sunday now that i think of it.

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:37 (eighteen years ago)

iced coffee should be opaque.

bb, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:40 (eighteen years ago)

i drink the stuff from the bakery black, d&d stuff i'll take cream.

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:43 (eighteen years ago)

Catsupppppppppppppp dude ‫茄蕃‪, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:44 (eighteen years ago)

hmm. good job we're not there, then.

lauren, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:44 (eighteen years ago)

srsly, though - in the metro area their iced coffe is at least 50% ice and icy water.

lauren, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:45 (eighteen years ago)

different breakfast of champions: http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2007-03/soci-mat032207.php

i never bother with d&d due to the watery and clueless issues. i kinda enjoy iced coffee black, but there is a tendency for it to get a bit acidic and an almost metalic aftertaste. granted i brew the stuff to look like motor oil.

bb, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:45 (eighteen years ago)

right? i never had a problem with any of them in new england or new york or the mid-atlantic states but out here.... fuck dude, there's no consistency from store to store.

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:45 (eighteen years ago)

that was a major xpost.

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:46 (eighteen years ago)

http://www.thecajunconnection.com/toddy.gif

i use this toddy, you soak the ground coffee beans for 12-24 hours and then drip, the coffee is super super strong and already cold because I store it in the fridge:

The Toddy coffee maker extracts the coffee bean's true delicious flavor and eliminates much of the acidity, producing a bold, super-smooth coffee that can be served one cup at a time.

Yerac, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:51 (eighteen years ago)

toddy coffee is awesome. i used to be responsible for brewing it in 10 gallon tubs at my coffee shop job in college, though, which was not so awesome.

lauren, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:52 (eighteen years ago)

mf'r i am so sleepy

TODDY

Yerac, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:53 (eighteen years ago)

Yerac, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:54 (eighteen years ago)

Catsupppppppppppppp dude ‫茄蕃‪, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 15:56 (eighteen years ago)

Shorts worn by both men and women over their pelvic area and the upper part of the upper legs or more, sometimes extending as far as mid-calf, but not covering the entire length of the leg, either as outer or undergarment. They are called "shorts" because they are a shortened version of trousers (as they are called in British English, or pants in American English) which cover the entire leg.

For men, the fashion has been over the last 20 years for the length to get longer, effectively making shorts become long trousers again.[citation needed]

[edit] Sociology

Historically, young boys were the only people who wore shorts. When they got older, they would get their first pair of long trousers. This gave shorts the perception of being only for young boys. So even in hot weather, men would not wear shorts to avoid looking immature. Since about World War II, when many soldiers were in tropical locations, adult men have worn shorts more, but the perception of shorts only being for young boys took several decades to change and to some extent still exists. Today, most young boys have long trousers as soon as they are old enough to tell the difference and they keep wearing shorts into their adult years without significant stigma attached. But in many countries there are few situations in a formal office setting where wearing shorts would be accepted, as they are considered too casual. In many American offices, where there is an official casual dress standard, shorts are specifically forbidden.
