I'm starting with a sampler, it might help you decide what you wanna dl. once I finish tracking the rest of the blue tape I'll post it.
twilight of the subbasement

all 320kbs mp3s to faithfully capture every pop hiss + dropout.
blue - "we need more" (1991)
philadelphia's blaring answer to the midwestern hick scumrock game, overlooked in their time and ours.
orifice - "little joe" (1988)
another philly band. for some reason they remind me of black snakes. except with a drum machine. must be the vocals.
stomach needle - "you are already dead" (1993)
this brooklyn/nj duo attempted to cross wiry uk postpunk agitprop and a spazzy us hardcore stylee with fair to middling results. assholes.
dime bag deluxe - "sickhole" (1992)
john mcbain took the mastertapes to jon kleiman's dime bag album and dubbed crazed psych solos over the whole thing. another tentacled outgrowth on the hairy backside of the monster magnet conglomerate. if you say, "hey, the guitar is mixed way too loud on this," well, uh, that's the point.
nokturnel - "another hell" (1990)
power trios were (are?) rare in the world of death metal, and it's hard to believe 3 guys were responsible for this squall. the first 15 seconds of the track is a little rough cuz the tape got eaten 10 years or so ago. they put out an alb on jl america but it didn't do justice to their manic free-metal sound. they were from burlington nj.
codger - "thurston moore is a pussy" (1994)
another nj band. boy did I love codger. too bad I lost all the demos I had by them, only have this live tape. when they hit the stage the room would fuckin' explode, yeah, literally - fireworks, beer bottles, confetti, audience and band members flying through the air. they were banned from many a fine establishment. wild, man, wild!
king carcass - "sink & desist" (1988)
heavy psych noise from yet another unsung philly band, they eventually signed to terry tolkein's number 6 label and were promptly forgotten along with fellow labelmates bewitched and crystallized movements.
monster magnet - "needlefreak" (1989)
even if you've heard this one (it's been booted before), you've never heard it sounding this good. trust me. it's kickin' like eatin' chicken in auckland with hawkwind.
peach of immortality - "track 3" (1988)
from taxi zum shoah, unreleased album by future to live and shave in l.a. prime mover tom smith. tom's been putting a bunch of poi stuff up on his blog lately, hopefully he'll get around to loosing this creepy + fucked masterpiece on the world.
