DOLLARSTORE!!!! is a good tourrettes word for sure
there was a woman with tourettes on my bus yesterday. She gave everyone the finger and then "humped the air" so to speak, it was ...mystical. She did not say DOLLARSTORE!!! though.
― Finefinemusic, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 16:06 (seventeen years ago)
next time you will be prepared, an as soon as she starts humping you can chime in with a big ol' DOLLARSTORE!!!
― tehresa, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 16:11 (seventeen years ago)
I love the fact that there's a Dollar Tree stuck right in the middle of a completely gentrified stretch of NE Portland.

Every Dollar Tree in the city here has a large stash of this book:http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51T002P3N1L._SS500_.jpgThe supply has not gone down in at least five years. It's become a habit of mine to read a sentence or two every time I go. It's pretty funny. It's very bad.

Also am saddened to report our local Dollar Trees don't use that cool logo jaxon showed upthread.
"In the wake of a bogus peace treaty on the planet Earth in 2069, fifty thousand desperate rebel lunar colonists turn to techno-geek hacker Dalton Starkiller to lead an impossible revolt."

after one trip to the dollarstore i told my girl that "when i walked around the corner and saw you down the aisle it was like the clouds parted and a ray of sunshine came into the dollarstore"
and she was like raised eyebrows "at the dollarstore?"

should be a poll of all the different dollar stores you can go to. i'd vote family dollar.
― john water (harbl), Friday, 1 October 2010 22:53 (fifteen years ago)
my dad's favorite store is the dollar store. every time we go to a new part of town he always stops by at any dollar stores because inventory changes, you know?
xp family dollar is gross because oftentimes things are more than $1 at the family dollar

My best beer pints came from the dollar store. Really heavy glasses, they weigh a kilo each empty.

A Dollar store up in Bellingham got busted last month for selling hundreds of lbs of opium poppies smuggled in from Canada. The article didn't say how much you got for $1.
― Jaq, Saturday, 2 October 2010 03:05 (fifteen years ago)
there is a pretty awesome one that i have to research the name of...dollar tree, maybe? it is probably the only one that i've ever been in where everything is for real a dollar. umbrellas, huge bags of experimental snack foods, name brand deodorants/toothpastes, etc.
a few weeks ago i was in one that had the most soul-crushingly depressing vibe of just about any store i've ever been in. it's tough to explain, but everything in there was sort of repulsive. merchandise, employees, shoppers. you know how some thrift stores are just super-depressing and not worth the effort of combing through stuff? it was like that, except twenty times worse. after exiting the place i felt like i wanted to immediately shower. i felt astrally contaminated or something, man.
weirdly enough there was a second dollar store at that shopping center which wasn't half-bad.
― dude (del), Saturday, 2 October 2010 03:37 (fifteen years ago)
i feel like that soul-crushingly depressing one was probably a family dollar :(
― john water (harbl), Saturday, 2 October 2010 15:54 (fifteen years ago)
Family Dollar isn't even a dollar store. Most everything in it costs more than a dollar. It is totally depressing, though. It's like if Big Lots had to scale down in size, charm, and class.
