WHITE PEOPLE FOOD

STRAWBERRY PRETZEL JELLO SALAD

2 c. crushed pretzel sticks
3/4 c. melted butter
3 tbsp. sugar
8 oz. cream cheese
1 c. sugar
8 oz. Cool Whip
1 (6 oz.) pkg. strawberry banana Jello
2 c. boiling water
2 (10 oz.) pkgs. frozen strawberries, partially thawed

Mix first three ingredients and press in bottom of a 9"x13" pan. Bake at 350 degrees (metal pan) or 325 degrees (glass pan) 8 minutes. Let cool completely. Beat 1 cup sugar and cream cheese. Fold in Cool Whip. Spread over pretzels. Mix Jello and water until dissolved. Add strawberries. Stir into Jello, then set aside for 10 minutes. Pour over cheese mixture. Chill.

Miracle Whip Cake

1 c. sugar
1 c. Miracle Whip
1 c. lukewarm water
2 c. flour
2 tsp. soda
4 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar, Miracle Whip and cocoa. Stir soda in lukewarm water. Add alternately with flour. Pour into well greased and floured cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees.

I remember the difficulty of finding things like peppers, chilies and spices when i was first living in Dublin in the early 90s.
Does seem quite abit better now. But there have been waves of immigration in the interim that have lead to other palates widening general taste i think.
LIke I'm thinking now that I had to go out to larger suburban supermarkets or go into Smithfield itself to find things. Could be i was missing some outlets.
