I apologize for the egregious exclusions of the JMZ and Airtrain on the previous poll, as well as the mislabeling of the W train. Please, forgive me.

i can never forgive you ian. W TRAIN NEVAR FORGET!

tehresa, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:21 (eighteen years ago)

oh and fuck a metro north! we don't need to include westchester fucks in our poll!

tehresa, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:21 (eighteen years ago)

I vote PATH train ha ha

Hurting 2, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:22 (eighteen years ago)

We don't NEED to, but we may as well. At least I didn't include the PATH!
xpost new jersey lol hurry up and move to brooklyn.

ian, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:22 (eighteen years ago)

if you're going to include metro north you gotta include LIRR and PATH boo

bell_labs, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:23 (eighteen years ago)

guys i am not going to fucking make this poll a third time, you can all eat me.

ian, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:24 (eighteen years ago)

if it has cushy seats, it does not count!
(i don't know if path does, i don't go to jersey!)

tehresa, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:24 (eighteen years ago)

it's not like anyone is going to vote metronorth, lirr, or path, even if we did have the options.

ian, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:25 (eighteen years ago)

did L train win the last one?

Yerac, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:25 (eighteen years ago)

dan selzer might vote LIRR (guess)

bell_labs, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:27 (eighteen years ago)

hehe. so i can't decide what to vote for. still!

tehresa, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:28 (eighteen years ago)

yes l train won

tehresa, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:28 (eighteen years ago)

PATH cars are like slightly better subway cars and it's only $1.50. But the downsides include limited destination options and late-night drunken sorority reunions.

Hurting 2, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:28 (eighteen years ago)

and they take fucking forever

gabbneb, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:30 (eighteen years ago)

limited destination options = the armpit of america

ian, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:30 (eighteen years ago)

Ride to WTC is only about five minutes from the stop near my house. To 14th and 6th maybe 10-15 mins on weekdays. Shitty thing is that after midnight you turn into a drunkin punkin because they only come once every half hour. The PATH is great for day trips or early nights but sux for late night fun.

Hurting 2, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:36 (eighteen years ago)

Also the 33rd line stops in Hoboken on weekends and thus takes longer.

Hurting 2, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:36 (eighteen years ago)

sorry, i should have said 'and they take fucking forever to come (and once they come, to leave).' er.

gabbneb, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:38 (eighteen years ago)

eh i cant decide. i mean the q goes right over the bridge and all but why is it so slooow? and it only goes half way up manhattan. the 45 has style, but it's lame how it's local in below city hall. maybe it'd be better if we could vote for which we hate most. i hate the a the mostest of all cause i've lived at on the c for so long and like why must there be 3x as many a's as c'sc wtf? the e sux too - why not just go to brooklyn youre so close.

trains i never take: 1 2 3 7 v j m z

trains no longer existing: 9

jhøshea, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:56 (eighteen years ago)

RIP 9 Train, i will always remember that time i fell asleep waiting for to go back downtown from my friend nate's birthday party at columbia where i drank much too much tequila. (i did not get robbed.)

ian, Thursday, 17 May 2007 02:58 (eighteen years ago)

ok the q goes from coney island to central park two of the sweetest places and i can get to canal in 1 stop and union square in 2. q wins. still why so slow?

jhøshea, Thursday, 17 May 2007 03:00 (eighteen years ago)

q ain't so slow, usually. it only seems to slow down between dekalb and the bridge, due to train traffic.

ian, Thursday, 17 May 2007 03:01 (eighteen years ago)

yr crazy if you think the Q is slow. I used to commute on the Q, 20 minutes from Atlantic ave to Herald Square, no small feat.

dan selzer, Thursday, 17 May 2007 03:06 (eighteen years ago)

i am def. a q fan, though i have rare opportunity to use it so i don't know if i can vote for it!

though this is making me excited for when i move to p. heights!!

tehresa, Thursday, 17 May 2007 03:11 (eighteen years ago)

WHEN IS THAT TZA? WHAT BLOCK? we will be serious prospect heights noize contingent. we'll have to find a bar to drink at that isn't soda, once freddies is gone.

ian, Thursday, 17 May 2007 03:11 (eighteen years ago)

Do any lines besides the L have those LED signs that tell you when the train is coming yet?

Hurting 2, Thursday, 17 May 2007 03:14 (eighteen years ago)

Q_Q

dmr, Thursday, 17 May 2007 04:04 (eighteen years ago)

ian, this fall! don't know what block yet! keep yr eyes out for good places/potential roomies for me!

aw i am sad freddies will be destroyed. not sad about getting to go to beast more frequently! (that's not in the death zone, is it?). also - all park, all the time!

tehresa, Thursday, 17 May 2007 12:26 (eighteen years ago)

u guys the q is slow srsly. always slow from atlantic to canal, more prone to slowness than other trains in general. never fast, like have you ever been on q and gotten that whoa this train is going rilly fast vibe - the slightly unsafe feeling? no. i mean it still takes you places fast cause it's so sweetly express, but the actual mph, subpar. still it's got charms - i voted q.

jhøshea, Thursday, 17 May 2007 13:13 (eighteen years ago)

This one doesn't even say if we're sposta pick the best or worst train. It's like Florida 2000!

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 17 May 2007 13:30 (eighteen years ago)

not sad about getting to go to beast more frequently!

Beast is kinda overrated ... or maybe I'm the only one that's had crazy slow service there? other times I've stopped by and been told there was an hour and a half wait, UH. not entirely satisfying as either a bar or a restaurant.

this place is great tho: http://www.alchemybrooklyn.com/

expensive for dinner but the brunch ain't that much more $ than Beast. so far brunch isn't crowded but that will probably change soon. CHORIZO EGGS with JALAPENO CHEEZE GRITS.

dmr, Thursday, 17 May 2007 14:35 (eighteen years ago)

Fine but it's further away. :( Beast is already as far as I'm willing to walk with a hangover.

Laurel, Thursday, 17 May 2007 14:36 (eighteen years ago)

true it is far down past city sub

dmr, Thursday, 17 May 2007 14:38 (eighteen years ago)

omg city sub meatball city sub

jhøshea, Thursday, 17 May 2007 15:11 (eighteen years ago)

city sub is the best. No. 22, smoked turkey, smoked ham and smoked gouda.

Good deal in the area...kinda crappy but real mexican place on 5th ave btw bergan and st. marks maybe? Their breakfast is like 3 dollars for a huge plate of rice, beans, eggs, sausage, tortillas etc etc. The tacos aren't that great though.

dan selzer, Thursday, 17 May 2007 15:16 (eighteen years ago)

sounds good

dmr, Thursday, 17 May 2007 15:19 (eighteen years ago)

DO I COMPLAIN ABOUT THE LACK OF OPTIONS IN YOUR POLLS? WHAT IS THIS, SLASHDOT?

ian, Thursday, 17 May 2007 16:57 (eighteen years ago)

Good deal in the area...kinda crappy but real mexican place on 5th ave btw bergan and st. marks maybe? Their breakfast is like 3 dollars for a huge plate of rice, beans, eggs, sausage, tortillas etc etc. The tacos aren't that great though.

They have similar breakfast specials at amigos viejos, but only before 11.

jhøshea, Thursday, 17 May 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

skrit, I think youve run into me 2x! I don't beat the PS pavement as much since I've been exiled.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 17 May 2007 17:44 (eighteen years ago)

is there an official shut down date for Freddys?

nah I think it's pretty far off. afaik they have not accepted any buyout and will fight as long as possible.

dmr, Thursday, 17 May 2007 18:11 (eighteen years ago)

but i [never] happen upon dmr

dude I think I might have seen you coming out of duane reade today? on flatbush? but I was walking fast and had headphones on and I declined to do a double-take, sorry.

dmr, Friday, 18 May 2007 04:53 (eighteen years ago)

wasn't sure if it was you

dmr, Friday, 18 May 2007 04:54 (eighteen years ago)

dmr i like beast! i've only been there once but there was no wait (on a sunday afternoon!) and yes, the service was slow, but i'm not usually in a rush during brunch. i like to savor the goodness.

however, i am open to all awesome brunching options.

tehresa, Friday, 18 May 2007 06:24 (eighteen years ago)
