I'm trying to keep it mostly spontaneous, but my rough agenda:
Thu 5/31 - FAP where Shasta, Alex and I can watch the Mets-Giants game, 5pm on. Yancy's in the Lower Haight has been suggested. Michael White, Shakey, jaxon, other baseball haters welcome.
-10pm - Tubesteak Thursday @ Aunt Charlies
Fri 6/1 - maybe I lunch nr Embarcadero?
-perhaps De Palma's Obsession @ Castro, 5pm
-run over to Berkeley? scalp my way into Arcade Fire if the mood hits
Sat 6/2 - 2/3 of a Harryhausen/Herrmann triple bill @ Castro, probably Mysterious Island, Jason & The Argonauts (likely the 5:05-9ish shows)
-SOMA/Castro bar crawl
Sun 6/3 - maybe A's-Twins at 1 if Santana pitches - Eagle beer blast
Mon 6/4 - Haight, Amoeba, GG Park etc A's-Red Sox w/ Alex at 7
timhopkins, r u around? is Dr Drew still doing his monthly disco DJ thing?
― Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 15:22 (eighteen years ago)
Yancy's is actually Inner Sunset on Irving btw. 8th/9th avenues.
― Steve Shasta, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 15:23 (eighteen years ago)
oh yeah.
Correction #2: my last line was meant to read: Are you around, Milton Parker?
― Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 15:27 (eighteen years ago)
hey sir
aunt charlies is always fun, especially with people visiting from out of town, I'll stop by. you seemed to pick a dry patch for shows on those dates. not sure _where_ drew's going to be, it's a major bummer that quite a few of his remaining weeks in the bay area are being spent away on tour...
― Milton Parker, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 18:54 (eighteen years ago)
hey! AC's is the only fun drag bar I've ever been to.
― Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 19:04 (eighteen years ago)

I have heard polar-opp response to Matt And Kim (also, finding one's way outta Potrero Hill...)
― Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 20:09 (eighteen years ago)
(also, finding one's way outta Potrero Hill...) = 22 Fillmore
― Steve Shasta, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 20:34 (eighteen years ago)
well, i was too drunk to find the bus stop 2 years ago. Had a lovely walk back to Market St.
― Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 22:47 (eighteen years ago)
i rode the 22 fillmore! but not to potrero hill. i think i might want to live in fillmore if i lived in sf proper.
― gabbneb, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 01:50 (eighteen years ago)
obv I'll hit MoMA (and the Chaat Cafe nearby?) and the Crumb show at Yerba Buena.
― Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 18:04 (eighteen years ago)
chaat cafe is sorta fast food indian. i don't know anyone who's specifically gone there unless they lived or worked on that block
― jaxon, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 18:20 (eighteen years ago)
there are not too many places to eat around MoMA.
― Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 18:41 (eighteen years ago)
it's true, but i'd go to Specialties a hundred times before i'd go to chaat (unless you're going on the weekend when it's closed). even go across Market to the neiman marcus cafe and get a great sandwich and peanut butter/jelly cookie (jelly's on the inside, soooo good). or go to 5th and mission to the new mall's food court. tons of good stuff down there (Asqew Grill, mmmm).
― jaxon, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 18:57 (eighteen years ago)
I am going to be on my honeymoon from June 4 - 10. SO SO SO SORRY our paths won't cross Dr. Morbz.
― n/a, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 19:01 (eighteen years ago)
oh that is I will be on my honeymoon in san francisco
I will be on MY honeymoon? where's sarah taking hers? Gary, IN?
― chicago kevin, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 19:02 (eighteen years ago)
I presume sarah will be there too
― n/a, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 19:03 (eighteen years ago)
but you haven't confirmed it or anything. that's cool, have a good trip man!
― chicago kevin, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 19:07 (eighteen years ago)
shit, i've gotta get a suit to the dry cleaners or else i'll be showing up to your wedding wearing cut offs and a gories t-shirt.
― chicago kevin, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 19:08 (eighteen years ago)
ok, thx jaxon.
n/a, I would post "You have ruined my byootiful thread with your honeymoon," but, no.
― Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 19:22 (eighteen years ago)
and what's the best pizza in North Beach? have we ever covered that?
― Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 19:24 (eighteen years ago)
i like tomasso's the best (nb: not huge on pizza).
― Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 19:35 (eighteen years ago)
Golden Boy
― jaxon, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 19:39 (eighteen years ago)
Steve Shasta asked on ILB about next Wednesday's FAP:
I like Yancy's on Irving/9th. Is there somewhere more central?
Actually isn't just about every other place (except North Beach) we discussed more central? esp if I want to get a giant mojito at that gay Latin bar in the Mission first. Atho I don't know where everybody's coming from... How about either The Page or Toronado?
― Dr Morbius, Thursday, 24 May 2007 15:06 (eighteen years ago)
Okay, I'mma break it down for ya:
Yancy's: huge TV (w/ sound), casual neighborhood bar, not so central The Page: two little TVs (maybe w/ sound?), casual neighborhood bar, central Toronado: incredible beer selection, one little TV, no sound (except for blaring scuzz rock jukebox), kinda edgy crowd at times, central
― Steve Shasta, Thursday, 24 May 2007 15:10 (eighteen years ago)
ok. So there are no huge TVs closer to the Cafe du Nord/Henry St area?
― Dr Morbius, Friday, 25 May 2007 15:01 (eighteen years ago)
(ie, Uncle Bert's just changed its name, it's still a sports bar. but I understand if you wanna pass, I don't esp like the Castro)
― Dr Morbius, Friday, 25 May 2007 15:02 (eighteen years ago)
Well when I say "not central", I mean like an extra 10 minutes/$1.50 to get there.
The other 2 places are within a 10-15 minute casual walk. Mad Dog In The Fog is Alex's other suggestion, they have a big TV and are located directly across from Toronado.
I say we meet at Toronado, if it sucks we go across the street and persuade the Mad Dog folks to put the Giants game on.
― Steve Shasta, Friday, 25 May 2007 16:15 (eighteen years ago)
PS: I don't think Alex and M.White and Shakey read the noize board.
― Steve Shasta, Friday, 25 May 2007 16:16 (eighteen years ago)
Alright that last plan sounds good.
― Dr Morbius, Friday, 25 May 2007 16:24 (eighteen years ago)
http://toronado.com/
$2.50 pints from 11am-6pm is probably the best deal in the city outside of the anchor brewery tour.
― Steve Shasta, Friday, 25 May 2007 16:29 (eighteen years ago)
I think there are two TVs at Toronado (one in the main bar and one in the adjoining room.) A plus with Toronado's is the Rosamunds obv.
As I said on the other thread, whatever bar get's decided on is cool with me.
Morbs, let me know if you are going to that Sunday A's game.
― Alex in SF, Friday, 25 May 2007 16:42 (eighteen years ago)
I think Santana is pitching on Saturday by the way (his next scheduled start is this Monday.)
― Alex in SF, Friday, 25 May 2007 16:44 (eighteen years ago)
Good idea? Hit Toronado's happy hour and then slide over to Mad Dog once the Giants start pulling Maine's limbs off one by one?
― Steve Shasta, Friday, 25 May 2007 16:47 (eighteen years ago)
let's say Toronado then. Shakey, Michael, jaxon?
Alex I am definitely planning (cheaper walk-up seats) on whichever day Santana pitches, but I think it will be Sunday cuz the Twins are off on Thursday and they have been pitching JS every 5th GAME, not every 5th day. (For similar reasons, Josh Beckett may start Monday night vs the A's.)
Also, since this was written does the Coliseum still serve sweet-potato pie at the 3b BBQ?
― Dr Morbius, Friday, 25 May 2007 17:03 (eighteen years ago)
Probably. I usually don't buy food there. Worst stadium to get a decent cup of coffee possibly ever.
― Alex in SF, Friday, 25 May 2007 17:05 (eighteen years ago)
But much better beer than we get from Mets or Yanquis.
and I think El Duque will be smokin' the Giants that night, wakeboarder.
― Dr Morbius, Friday, 25 May 2007 17:06 (eighteen years ago)
(which means I will def get a mojito first)
― Dr Morbius, Friday, 25 May 2007 17:07 (eighteen years ago)
i don't do baseball or sports bars. sorry
― jaxon, Friday, 25 May 2007 17:24 (eighteen years ago)
well, we were not nec looking for a sports bar, but what do I know.
― Dr Morbius, Saturday, 26 May 2007 17:39 (eighteen years ago)
Jaxon you are allowed to ignore the game, if you want obv.
― Alex in SF, Saturday, 26 May 2007 21:21 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, we just want to keep one eye on it, not gonna be glued!
also Alex, next Sunday looks like Santana-Gaudin.
― Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 14:42 (eighteen years ago)
Morbs,
Do you like sausage? O_o

I'm guessing those aren't Coliseum stands. I was going to ask about Taylor's Sausage in downtown Oakland tho.
― Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 16:09 (eighteen years ago)
Nope, I'm gonna need something to eat before the game on Thurs. These are my local haunts.
― Steve Shasta, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 16:13 (eighteen years ago)
Hmmm, maybe. I will still need disco nap after getting in 1:30 or 2. And I fancy one giant mojito at Esta Noche. But yes, I need to eat if I'm going on to Aunt Charlie's from Toronado.
I have a cel number for you that's a year old -- still good?
― Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 16:20 (eighteen years ago)
yes, that # is muy bueno.
LOL @ esta noche. that's good stuff.
― Steve Shasta, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 16:21 (eighteen years ago)
we still don't know if Drew Daniel DJs this weekend? while wearing his Chas Nelson Reilly Memorial Aviator Glasses?
― Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 16:23 (eighteen years ago)
(well, I'd drink my mojito at 4:30. I don't think I could handle Esta Noche at night -- apparently many of the young men there weekends are "working.")
― Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 16:32 (eighteen years ago)
when will you eat at yr "local," SS?
― Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 16:13 (eighteen years ago)
let's eat before the game.
do you prefer sausage or pulled shoulder?
― Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 16:33 (eighteen years ago)
sausage is less painful.
― Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 16:51 (eighteen years ago)
ok, rosamunde then bring it next door to toronado
― Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 16:54 (eighteen years ago)
ah how convenient

That sounds great. Are you into it?
― Alex in SF, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 20:30 (eighteen years ago)
yes. especially if Monday is Tavarez-DiNardo! :p
― Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 20:56 (eighteen years ago)
So tomorrow 5-ish at Toronado, right?
― Alex in SF, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 23:26 (eighteen years ago)
yes, although i'm gonna try for 4-4:15pm (if i get my dry cleaning, laundry and packing done).
― Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 23:39 (eighteen years ago)
I'm here -- but my bags (with all my jackets/hoodies etc) are not! about to call SS and head out door. brrrrrr

Fun w/ SF bros... WAITING FOR GODDAMN BAGS.
― Dr Morbius, Friday, 1 June 2007 02:57 (eighteen years ago)
"Milton," sorry, didnt get to TT til almost 12. it was OK, considering I dont like the music.
― Dr Morbius, Friday, 1 June 2007 09:41 (eighteen years ago)
I made one of the Eagle bartenders mix his first mojito.
Hope to be back in, oh, 2 years. :(
― Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 6 June 2007 15:03 (eighteen years ago)
sorry I missed you. yeah, I don't like the music much on thursdays so I actually must admit I didn't make it there -- saturdays are better for aunt charlie's, lipsyncing drag masters peforming yma sumac / ann margaret / april stevens / julie london / dolly parton etc. we should have aimed for then, come back sooner than 2 years. see you at magma on the 23rd in brooklyn, you love magma
― Milton Parker, Wednesday, 6 June 2007 23:12 (eighteen years ago)
yes I've been to their drag nites before.
― Dr Morbius, Thursday, 7 June 2007 13:27 (eighteen years ago)
also I seldom spend $ on bands I even know. Afternoon show on East River that afternoon more likely...
