Senior pranks are a time-honored tradition, but the one that ended in a Volvo being left upside down on the grounds of Palo Alto High School could lead to a felony charge for the car's 18-year-old owner. Police arrested Daniel Blaine Marchant on Tuesday on suspicion of felony vandalism as well as a misdemeanor -- defacing the vehicle identification number on his 1994 Volvo station wagon so it couldn't be traced to him. Officers found the car upside down, spray-painted with multiple colors, the hood and tires missing, Sgt. Sandra Brown said Wednesday. It was also emblazoned with the words, "07 Seniors, Thizz or Die," Brown said. Thizz is apparently a reference to the drug ecstasy.

vahid dont turn bitter!
― strongohulkington, Thursday, 7 June 2007 21:04 (eighteen years ago)
ah, it's not really revenge ... it's more "relief" that the system works. basically all 4 of those kids are outrageous slackers who are slumming-it in an algebra class that's like 75% english-language learners and kids who never did prealgebra in jr high.
they are really obnoxious in class, barely lift a finger (it's all review for them), make fun of the kids who are struggling etc. they spent a lot of the semester calling the slower kids "retards". now who's retarded, son?
i'm just bitter because i had to spend a year teaching math instead of science. after today i won't have to teach anything but chemistry, physics and biology FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.

haha I'm so glad my eighth grade algebra teacher never got the revenge she probably hoped for
― Curt1s Stephens, Friday, 8 June 2007 00:15 (eighteen years ago)
(then again I was never a slacker, just loud and hyper)
― Curt1s Stephens, Friday, 8 June 2007 00:16 (eighteen years ago)

nah, parents like that don't send their kids to a school that sends 21 seniors out of 500 to college.
― moonship journey to baja, Friday, 8 June 2007 00:31 (eighteen years ago)
vahid have you seen season 4 of the wire and/or half nelson?
― The Macallan 18 Year, Friday, 8 June 2007 15:39 (eighteen years ago)

― ian, Friday, 8 June 2007 15:43 (eighteen years ago)
(i always did really badly in math in high school, except for geometry.)
― ian, Friday, 8 June 2007 15:46 (eighteen years ago)
i was kind of awful to my high school biology teacher, and walked out of class halfway through a lot, but bitch was terrible. she was in some religious cult where she was not allowed to cut her hair and did not teach evolution. THIS WAS A PUBLIC SCHOOL!
― bell_labs, Friday, 8 June 2007 15:52 (eighteen years ago)
i was also a jerk to my english teacher but he was a prick. he made everyone call him "dr. putn4m" b/c he had a doctorate and i consistently called him by his first name which pissed him off. he was later fired, i believe for being a perv.

― bell_labs, Friday, 8 June 2007 15:58 (eighteen years ago)
least impressive state capitol ever.
― ian, Friday, 8 June 2007 15:59 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, i was talking about portland, not augusta. augusta is unimpressive to say the least.
― bell_labs, Friday, 8 June 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)
I had a high school teacher who was disarmingly similar to Mr. Rosso from Freaks & Geeks, and was thrown out of his class three days a week for being an argumentative bitch.
― jessie monster, Friday, 8 June 2007 16:07 (eighteen years ago)
my best class in high school was "the occult in literature" which was sadly only a one semester elective.
2nd best was environmental science, which involved going out into the woods and drawing pictures of plants.
― bell_labs, Friday, 8 June 2007 16:13 (eighteen years ago)
that sounds like an awesome class!!
― s1ocki, Friday, 8 June 2007 16:37 (eighteen years ago)
(occult)
didn't maine move the capital to augusta during wwII because they didn't want german uboats popping up in the old port and taking over the city and thereby state?
i drove into a bridge abutment in waterbury once.

wikipedia tells me i'm wrong:
Augusta was officially designated the state capital in 1827. However, the Maine State Legislature continued to meet in Portland until completion of the new capitol building in 1832. Augusta was chartered as a city in 1849.
― chicago kevin, Friday, 8 June 2007 16:48 (eighteen years ago)
i was gonna say, i've never heard that before.
― bell_labs, Friday, 8 June 2007 16:49 (eighteen years ago)
yeah s1ocki the occult class was great, and introduced me to lovecraft and le guinn, inspiring a lifelong love of THE OCCULT
― bell_labs, Friday, 8 June 2007 16:53 (eighteen years ago)

in my pre-calculus class, we made the teacher cry twice andleave the room several times. she also knocked an overhead projector over once when we were giving her the hard time about a misstatement re: some obvious rule of arithmetic. before she made this mistake, her slip had begun to fall off. this was, of course pointed out to her in the rudest way we could muster. the thing was, the woman was an idiot and had no right to be teaching us smart(-assed), bored, suburban kids. we would also openly discuss quiz/test questions durring the exam period and hand our papers back and forth.
my senior yr i swear she tried to hit me with her camero or whatever it was...i think my mother (who was treasurer of the teacher union) refused to let my brother be in one of her classes
