re: 1-2 my friend just started working at r0yal 0ak and asked me if i wanted to do a dj nite and i was like "i dont dj" and she described her first night of work as basically 2 girls doing exactly the above with a laptop and making $300...:/

haha I didn't have cribnotes but I did have a notebook with each cd-r's playlist on it so I could remember which songs were in A and which were in B. timecodes are acceptable I guess

I think having a complete setlist or BPMs written down is some wedding-level bullshit though

this includes writing instructions to yourself in any of the various fields in iTunes

most DJs (including me) don't have the skills to do anything remotely interesting or innovative. so just play the records and try not to fuck it up too much.

I used to have a list of song timecodes to do transitions at but it led to an awesome ROCKMAN SOUNDTRACK DANSU REMIXU vocal morph into DANCING QUEEN. I think the key is the same too but I think there's some audible weirdness since you have to pitch some.
