THAT FUCK. I R sorry, dood. I locked my B17 up, the weight of 14 inches of extra chain is the least of my problems, and now I am glad. But that is vile.

DIE!
― broodje kroket (dog latin), Friday, 3 June 2011 08:38 (fourteen years ago)
always lock yr wheels
― England's banh mi army (ledge), Friday, 3 June 2011 08:48 (fourteen years ago)
I know, I know, but it takes ages and it makes me miss my train. Plus it means you have to hoik around all these awkward extra chains and locks etc and it's not practical. Shoulda got insurance. Shoulda woulda coulda. :-(
― broodje kroket (dog latin), Friday, 3 June 2011 08:56 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah I also rarely lock my back wheel, my justification being the lack of a quick release but that is obviously very silly. Tbh I try not to lock my bike outside at all if I can help it.
― Upt0eleven, Friday, 3 June 2011 09:17 (fourteen years ago)

after that it was all too late...
― broodje kroket (dog latin), Friday, 3 June 2011 12:27 (fourteen years ago)
PS - any bike enthusiasts know how much it would generally cost to fit and replace a new back wheel on your average £300 mountain bike?
― broodje kroket (dog latin), Friday, 3 June 2011 12:28 (fourteen years ago)
You're gonna need a wheel, gear cassette, tyre and inner tube and possibly a new chain if your old one is worn (it might not work properly with a new cassette). Upwards of £50 I reckon, if you're buying new.
― immer wieder, ralf & günther (NickB), Friday, 3 June 2011 12:41 (fourteen years ago)
That's okay. I imagined it'd be about £50, which I can just about afford I suppose.
