What's going on?
― remy bean, Monday, 23 July 2007 15:02 (eighteen years ago)
I want to
1) Wild Styles Summerstage 2) Burritoville 3) Noize Drinks
I think I'm going to
ROFL w. Jon
― remy bean, Monday, 23 July 2007 15:03 (eighteen years ago)
and I need good restaurants (& people to eat at 'em w/ me)
― remy bean, Monday, 23 July 2007 15:04 (eighteen years ago)
Burritoville is weak. I don't get why so many noize boarders rate it.
― Hurting 2, Monday, 23 July 2007 15:16 (eighteen years ago)
burritoville is ok :/
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Monday, 23 July 2007 15:31 (eighteen years ago)
free chips
― sexyDancer, Monday, 23 July 2007 15:33 (eighteen years ago)
I don't think I've ever been there. Whenever I'm in that mood I always hit San Loco.
― dmr, Monday, 23 July 2007 15:38 (eighteen years ago)
It's a so-so, relatively cheap, fast meal, but it's no destination.
― Hurting 2, Monday, 23 July 2007 15:45 (eighteen years ago)
Their burritos are too gloppy.
I just like saying Taco Guaco Loco
― dmr, Monday, 23 July 2007 15:46 (eighteen years ago)
i don't think any of us are laboring under the delusion that it's haute cuisine.
― lauren, Monday, 23 July 2007 15:46 (eighteen years ago)
I just don't think it's a good burrito. But it's hard to find a good burrito in NYC at all.
― Hurting 2, Monday, 23 July 2007 15:49 (eighteen years ago)
catfish guaco locos are so good.
― bell_labs, Monday, 23 July 2007 15:49 (eighteen years ago)
anyway, sorry to derail the thread. The other ideas sound good. I've been wanting to come to Roffle but I can't make the upcoming one.

― get bent, Monday, 23 July 2007 16:22 (eighteen years ago)
I dig a rice queso loco with a stupid sauce I do.
"no good mexican in nyc" = "hard to find a good cleaning lady"

GUIS
I want to meet some of you. I don't actually give a shit about burritoville, I just said it b/c it seems like noise-historical. So, if I suggested drinks on Saturday would anybody step up and pick a place and would anybody else show?
― remy bean, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 01:38 (eighteen years ago)
if you want noise-historical you've gotta go to daddy's, rite?
― get bent, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 01:42 (eighteen years ago)
could do that too
― remy bean, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 01:44 (eighteen years ago)
p.s. i envy your nyc-visiting ways. i'm aiming for an xmas trip, which will get me the most bang for my airline-ticket buxxx.
― get bent, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 01:44 (eighteen years ago)
i suggest whatever bar that was that me, ian, and jon were drinking at near ian's work. total shithole, i wish i could drink there every day.

wait wait wait.... you were there?
― chicago kevin, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 02:43 (eighteen years ago)
I have to work until 7 on Saturday 7/28 and then I'll be at Sonic Youth but if people are in Wburg/Greenpoint drinking late nite I might be able to show up

― lauren, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 14:49 (eighteen years ago)
turkey's nest used to have take-out frozen margs in big styrofoam cups. not sure if they still do that.
― lauren, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 14:50 (eighteen years ago)
yeah they still do that. you don't really wanna hang out there anyway.
― sexyDancer, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 15:03 (eighteen years ago)
This sounds very similar to New Apolo at Grand & Union, where they serve LI Iced Teas to teenagers in giant hot/sour soup containers with a hole punched in the top.
Also a place to not hang out.

also: Dr. Morbs, you gonna be around?
i had a friend e-mail me the other day asking WHERE IS THAT LES PLACE WHERE YOU CAN GET A FROZEN MARGARITA AND JUST DRINK IT ON THE STREET AS IF IT WAS A SMOOTHIE?
― sanskrit, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 16:24 (eighteen years ago)
i remember one awful, humid night during Piano's heyday where about 60 people hanging out on the street were enjoying these

the les place is el sombrero/the hat restaurant. do they still do that?
― bell_labs, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 16:32 (eighteen years ago)
i haven't had one in a while. the last time, staff told us that we had to go "at least 3 blocks away" before taking the cups out of the paper bag they were in and drinking them.
fun fact: they're made with white wine and malt liquor!
― lauren, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 16:38 (eighteen years ago)
Ohhrrghg that sounds like a bad morning waiting to happen.

ts: el sombrero (nyc) vs el coyote (l.a.)
― get bent, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 16:46 (eighteen years ago)
I'm sad. A few years ago, when I first moved to L.A., El Coyote was one of my favorite places, but its gone totally down hill. When I was there a few nights ago, my date and I took turns guessing what the "salsa" was. I guessed Pace Picante Sauce, he guess spaghetti sauce. Our 6$ margaritas (better deals can be found ALL OVER L.A.) were warm and mostly mix. The cheese in my tamale was exceptionally greasy, which was only tolerable because there was so little filling to begin with. The guacamole at the table next to us was the same minty green color of Ralph's brand guacamole. The air conditioner wasn't working to the point where every time our waitress stopped at our table, she visibly wiped the sweat from her brow. You'd think that with the air conditioner not working, they would have kept the water flowing into something larger than a juice glass. Nope. We had to ask them to fill our water at least three times. No one apologized about the heat. We swallowed our dinner quickly to avoid tasting it and went to find some place cooler, where the drinks are worth their price.Pros: CheapCons: Low quality food and only ok service.
Pros: Cheap

i was drunk before i left laguardia then ran into my friends on the street when me and ian were leaving academy. i remember bill & eric wanted to go record shopping but lisa and kevin didn't even let me finish saying "we're grabbing some drinks around the corner" before they decided to go with us.
also, that day was probably the drunkest i'd been in new york since i was 20 or 21.
― chicago kevin, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 17:46 (eighteen years ago)

I'm getting into LaGuardia at 11:10 pm. JW sez the best way to get to ROFL is in a cab -- agreed? And does $30.00 sound accurate?

All right, I need to unpack, take a beershower, and charge my phone. Also I accidentally left bike lock at the shop on Tues so if I ride up I have to be able to keep it near me, which is awkward. Unless you have one I could borrow?
