scott seward, Sunday, 5 August 2007 18:09 (eighteen years ago)

i think they have mountains and trees and buildings and museums and stuff too there...

might want to check some of that out if you have time.

scott seward, Sunday, 5 August 2007 18:10 (eighteen years ago)

musee rodin for sure! tons of great camille claudel there, too!

tehresa, Sunday, 5 August 2007 18:15 (eighteen years ago)

def the rodin.

s1ocki, Sunday, 5 August 2007 18:18 (eighteen years ago)

i fell asleep on a bench there once! but it wasn't the musée's fault. jet-lagged.

s1ocki, Sunday, 5 August 2007 18:19 (eighteen years ago)

little villages outside montpellier = a+

volcanic rock cathedral is cool in clermont-ferrand! also if there, must to hike up the puy-de-dome (is an extinct volcano and very pretty but not too difficult hike)! (you may recognize this from the mountains depicted on volvic water bottles).

tehresa, Sunday, 5 August 2007 18:19 (eighteen years ago)

the rodin is awesome bc it is his HOUSE! and there are sculptures outside in the gardens!

tehresa, Sunday, 5 August 2007 18:20 (eighteen years ago)

ya it is truly lovely.

s1ocki, Sunday, 5 August 2007 18:34 (eighteen years ago)

I just finished a biography of Berlioz so I am v jealous of this trip.

Scott what is it about that chicken photo that makes it look as if the entire chicken is IRL the size of a golf ball?

I've never been anywhere more exotic than vancouver :(

Jon Lewis, Sunday, 5 August 2007 18:36 (eighteen years ago)

i broke my 5 year vegetarianism at a christmas dinner in my friend's flat when i was living in paris, 1999. it was a french roast chicken (leek fondu on the side) that did it. truly one of the great meals of my life. i have never been so full.

s1ocki, Sunday, 5 August 2007 19:01 (eighteen years ago)

musee rodin = no tick (not doin paris this time round)
clermont-ferrand = tick (but hike? yike more like)
montpellier = poss a bit far south but my main potential stay-with is bein v.unsure if she's gnna be round after all so i will poss have more time in the south than i currently plan for

mark s, Sunday, 5 August 2007 19:01 (eighteen years ago)

I used to have a book about the MYSTERIES OF CHARTES but I don't think I do anymore. I think it would have been up your alley, mark.

tokyo rosemary, Sunday, 5 August 2007 21:27 (eighteen years ago)

Skot, re last photo: I think you might be barking up the wrong tree re mark s. Mark, where exactly are you thinking of going/staying?

James Redd and the Blecchs, Sunday, 5 August 2007 22:41 (eighteen years ago)

that was just the first thing that popped up whilst searching for french hotties.

scott seward, Sunday, 5 August 2007 22:45 (eighteen years ago)

route (roughly) = calais abbeville chartres orleans nevers clermont-ferrand puy-en-velay montelimar valreas avignons nimes millau rodez perigeaux angoulemes angers calais (over 10-12 days)

original plan wz to stay w.dr vick nr montelimar for 3-4 days in middle but as of earlier this eve she is still unsure if she'll be there when i am as she is skint and her car is bust, so i will instead possibly visit various other foax in that region over that period

exactly where i'll stay depends on where i get to after a day's drive i guess

scott is only barking up half the wrong tree

mark s, Sunday, 5 August 2007 22:51 (eighteen years ago)

the truth is, and i hate to admit this, sometimes i just post stuff.

like this:

in other words, not a whole lot of thought involved. but, hey, that's how majik is made.

scott seward, Sunday, 5 August 2007 22:55 (eighteen years ago)

who mark s wd hit:
i. the hottie
ii. the headband dude (and his date at 8, but not 4 or 10)
iii. the golfball-sized chicken

mark s, Sunday, 5 August 2007 23:04 (eighteen years ago)

maybe also the guy holding the boar's snout

mark s, Sunday, 5 August 2007 23:06 (eighteen years ago)

the hottie is supposedly a bond girl. but i didn't see that one. the last one. i think. with the new guy. whatshisface.
