i had a really weird gimlet tonight. hendricks gin (soooo good) and lime juice and a bunch of mashed up fruit and a bit of grapefruit juice and some cucumber. i wouldn't order it again.

jaxon, Saturday, 11 August 2007 05:59 (eighteen years ago)

HENDRICks

El Tomboto, Saturday, 11 August 2007 06:00 (eighteen years ago)

and last night at home fixed myself some hendricks and lime flavored sparkling water. i had no ice in the freezer so i went next door to the gas station and grabbed some ice from their soda machine.

jaxon, Saturday, 11 August 2007 06:00 (eighteen years ago)

Rosacea has been indelibly linked with the bulbous nose and "gin blossoms" of comedian and alcohol aficionado W. C. Fields, but the condition actually results from a disparate assortment of stimuli acting in concert on a genetically susceptible host. Additionally, an appropriate constitutional diathesis must exist. Although descriptions suggestive of rosacea harken back to biblical times, modern diagnosis and treatment seem intertwined with the pharmaceutical and advertising industries. Patients in our cosmetically conscious society flock to physicians' offices and demand topical salves in lieu of considering requisite behavior modification.

gershy, Saturday, 11 August 2007 15:58 (eighteen years ago)

i like gin as well esp with limes

(and i have rosacea! it is fine, under control (no gin blossoms or nose issues or whatever. just like skin-reactive to y'know the world. working: grain-free, sugar-free diet, but uhhhhhh))

rrrobyn, Saturday, 11 August 2007 16:28 (eighteen years ago)

I was going to take a pass on Hendricks because I don't love cucumber but it's made in Girvan! How could I say no?!?

One of the consequences of age is seriously regulating gin intake. Drinking more than three G&T's a evening guarantees disaster the next morning, Advil notwithstanding.

seven months pass...

all i got. enough for two drinks. which is not enough.

I'm not a big fan of gin but (because they're in season), here's a tip from my bartending days: pour gin into a closeable jelly jar like container until it's about 1/2 full. Pour in blueberries until you can't add more; you want the blueberries to marinate in the gin. Leave this sit for about 30 hours. Now drain the gin. It'll retain some of the blueberry flavor and the blueberries will be little snackable gin bombs that you can use as either garnish or as an awesome alcoholic finger food.

i feel like this would be better with vodka?
but a good idea for the alcoholic foods restaurant i dream of opening.

tehresa, Sunday, 19 July 2009 05:35 (sixteen years ago)

that sounds awesome. please to deliver me:

a. moregin.
b. blueberries.
c. jelly jar.

N1ck (Upt0eleven), Sunday, 19 July 2009 05:35 (sixteen years ago)

vodka doesn't add any flavor to the berries, but gin does.
Long as we're sharing recipes though: I'm a big fan of vanilla vodka, ginger ale and cranberry juice... or vodka, frozen strawberries, simple syrup blended and mixed half and half as slush with sprite.

my favorite new concoction is rosemary simple syrup, gin, and soda.

tehresa, Sunday, 19 July 2009 05:43 (sixteen years ago)

velko, Sunday, 19 July 2009 06:53 (sixteen years ago)

I have heard this too, but just regular raisins, not golden.

three years pass...

Woot! Today I found Booth's 90-proof London Dry Gin, it was like $17 for a handle and its pretty good! It got 88 points from Wine Enthusiast. I was wanting some G&Ts and didn't have the money for something really nice, but this is def. a mid-shelf Gin at a bottom shelf price.
