latebloomer, Monday, 10 September 2007 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

i don't know if bewildered is the right word for me for life. people are bewildering though. and often frustrating. maybe more frustrating than bewildering.

bell_labs, Monday, 10 September 2007 22:14 (eighteen years ago)

PPLS DRINK YOUR WAY THRU TEH CONFUSION.

Do you guys think that works? I'm still on the fence on that one. I met this guy who had been in some terrible accident which involved head trauma, and he was completely lucid on each occasion that I talked to him...but one thing that sticks out from our conversations is he mentioned something about drinking being a means of gaining "clarity of perspective" for him, or some such (I think after the accident, he stopped drinking for a year or so).

Anyhow, when he said that, I thought, "yes, exactly; the guy is reading my mind"...but is such a viewpoint just the first step on some slippery slope to semi-alcoholism?

[ ] stay in l.a. & find job
[ ] move to london & find job
[ ] move to san francisco & find job

remy bean, Thursday, 13 September 2007 23:14 (eighteen years ago)

huh. re: above dell story, I think my drinking increased after being on the head trauma end of a car accident, so that's a little freaky.

I am mostly serious abt drink thru the confusion, BTW, although not always.

Oh yeah, the guy also claimed that his IQ greatly increased after the accident, and that he could suddenly do math incredibly well and stuff.

dell, Friday, 14 September 2007 00:59 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, now that didn't happen over here. The only long-term change I've noticed is that I now reverse the words for "green" and "orange", which is bizarre.

John Justen, Friday, 14 September 2007 01:01 (eighteen years ago)

huh, weird

dell, Friday, 14 September 2007 01:07 (eighteen years ago)

You mean as in, "But officer, I coulda sworn that light had turned orange!"?

Heave Ho, Friday, 14 September 2007 01:12 (eighteen years ago)

Things like green lights or, grass or, well, oranges (that are sort of cognitively permalinked to their color) I get right. If I'm talking about someones sweater or the color of a wall, I get it wrong 100% of the time unless I pause and carefully think about it.

It's fucked up, but hey, as weird brain things go, I'll take it over whatever else.

Yeah, it beats most of the stories in those Oliver Sacks books, for sure.

dell, Friday, 14 September 2007 01:55 (eighteen years ago)

but enough about my broken brain, i think the correct answer is NOT SURE LOL

jhøshea, Friday, 14 September 2007 02:18 (eighteen years ago)

but yeah i do find understanding that life is bewildering helpful. rather than trying to solve everything and getting further confused.

jhøshea, Friday, 14 September 2007 02:20 (eighteen years ago)

all i know is that i don't know nothin'

latebloomer, Friday, 14 September 2007 02:47 (eighteen years ago)

I don't really know what thread to put this in but I was pretty bewildered when I heard that Kanye song where he sings about Drunk Hot Girls to the tune of Can's "Sing Swan Song"
