this is a tough one. my 20 year old self is screaming 'conduit for sale!' but my 36 year old self is all 'well, wait a minute now. lets think about this.'

"In the Mouth of a Desert" or "Zurich is Stained"

okay or "Here"

I pick Zurich

Trigger Cut and Perfume V would be sterling selections but my says everything's ending Here.

Alien Mindbender (Roberto Spiralli), Friday, 17 October 2008 20:13 (sixteen years ago) link

this is super easy for me for every other Pavement album. this is the toughest decision by far.

Alien Mindbender (Roberto Spiralli), Friday, 17 October 2008 20:14 (sixteen years ago) link

perfume v v. zurich is stained for me, but it seems like a lie!

horseshoe, Friday, 17 October 2008 20:14 (sixteen years ago) link

i sort of want to vote for summer babe bc it is a great song and maybe it will get no votes?

Edward III, Friday, 17 October 2008 20:16 (sixteen years ago) link

so cool that people love perfume v. that was my favorite for a while, but i kind of feel like summer babe is undeniable. so don't worry horseshoe.

"Circa 1762" from the deluxe edition is better than any of these.

But I'll go with Summer Babe.

"in the mouth a desert" used to be one of my favs but i've tired of it so much. the best songs are "here" & "summer babe" but "loretta's scars" and "zurich is stained" are right behind

k3vin k., Thursday, 10 December 2009 00:04 (fifteen years ago) link

the last band i was in covered that as our first song together at our first practice at the request of the bass player and me, but the drummer was a death metal drummer and sort of the odd man out, not really familiar with pavement, at all really, so he used all these fast tom fills and double bass blast beats. the song had never sounded worse~
