I took a COLLEGE class in Hypercard.

I used Performer 3...and Opcode Vision.

I'm not going to post pictures of Super Paint again.

What about ASCII Cult of the Dead Cow screengrabs?

I had an internet account care of mindvox.phantom.com in high school.

Yes I do! I also remember Sound Edit when it wasn't yet Sound Edit 16 and most of all, I miss destructive editing.

Drew Daniel, Friday, 9 November 2007 22:39 (seventeen years ago)

destructive editing is still there if you don't really know what you're doing

latebloomer, Friday, 9 November 2007 22:47 (seventeen years ago)

I used to have a photo of an Emulator III connected to a Mac SE running Alchemy on my locker.

Pretty cool teenager, huh?

dan selzer, Friday, 9 November 2007 22:48 (seventeen years ago)

I didn't have a computer 'til like mid 2000.

sexyDancer, Friday, 9 November 2007 22:49 (seventeen years ago)

i asked for a midi interface and performer for christmas one year (for use on the family SE), when i was 10 or 11...that christmas was followed by much frustration as i tried to reckon with the cruel and tempermental midi bitchgoddess

bell_labs, Friday, 9 November 2007 22:50 (seventeen years ago)

I bought the synth you used on stage inna CB days.

sexyDancer, Friday, 9 November 2007 22:55 (seventeen years ago)

bell_labs, Friday, 9 November 2007 22:56 (seventeen years ago)

latebloomer, Friday, 9 November 2007 22:57 (seventeen years ago)

sexyDancer, Friday, 9 November 2007 22:59 (seventeen years ago)

i hacked a local PBX when i was thirteen (by hacked, i mean figured out default passwords were 0000). i had free phone calls for a year until they finally got wise. i used it to connect to BBSes in the midwest and sometimes overseas.

sanskrit, Friday, 9 November 2007 22:59 (seventeen years ago)

also we coordinated with kids from other schools nearby who were into this shit and wardialed almost everything local. it was no end of amusement that taco bell used dial-in unix terminals. tho we never got inside them.

sanskrit, Friday, 9 November 2007 23:02 (seventeen years ago)

this thing is only good for the arpeggiator and I have to punch it to get it to work:

This weekend an "old school" person suggested I join their "invite only music email list" I wrote my email address on a napkin. I am told that I have to "update people as to what I've been listening to".

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Friday, 9 November 2007 23:44 (seventeen years ago)

I had a voice mail box for years on some hacked corporate system, I made the radio shack red box, I plugged into junction boxes, and spent years in my basement dialing BBSs in california and billing them to a third party non-functioning loop number.

dan selzer, Friday, 9 November 2007 23:58 (seventeen years ago)

Damn, Ian had a loop number, wish we had thought to do that!!!!

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Saturday, 10 November 2007 00:05 (seventeen years ago)

I still have my radioshack redbox SOMEWHERE

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Saturday, 10 November 2007 00:05 (seventeen years ago)

i never really got into phreaking. i had a hacked vmb too. my intro msg started with the first 10 seconds of hendrix's "voodoo child" and i never got any useful msgs just teenage hackers singing the intro back in mockery.

sanskrit, Saturday, 10 November 2007 00:12 (seventeen years ago)

Oh god, I still have the beige box peej and I made, and the blue box put together out of scraps JW, Ian and I scrounged in the Brown University Comp Sci dumpsters.

remy bean, Saturday, 10 November 2007 00:21 (seventeen years ago)

I don't think we had a blue box

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Saturday, 10 November 2007 00:50 (seventeen years ago)

xpost

I still have a "prodigy.net" email account, that's some elderly behaviour right there.

Drew Daniel, Saturday, 10 November 2007 16:27 (seventeen years ago)

The other day I was thinking about IRONIC hotmail email addresses or using an older email address to make people think you've been doing consulting longer than you have...

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Saturday, 10 November 2007 17:04 (seventeen years ago)

The thing about blue boxes is weren't they kind of useless by the time you wouldn't been old enough to put one together?

I went one up on the radio shack redbox. I recorded the tone from the red box onto one of those hallmark greeting cards that you open up and can record "happy birthday grandma" on it, then took it out of the card and put it in a tic-tac box. Then I just recorded it onto a credit card sized digital voice recorder and carried it around in my wallet.

dan selzer, Saturday, 10 November 2007 17:19 (seventeen years ago)

Yea, we didn't use the software bluebox ever. Jer meant REDBOX upthread

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Saturday, 10 November 2007 18:19 (seventeen years ago)

I remember getting an e-mail address from public-enemy.com.

Pleasant Plains, Saturday, 10 November 2007 18:59 (seventeen years ago)
