Quintron DJ gigs NYC
I will do three nights - thurs November 29, Fri NOvember 30, and Sat December 1 - in NYC and Brooklyn. NOt sure of the venues yet but I know thursday will be Manhattan and the rest will be Brooklyn. I will be in New York this week in order to deliver a Drum Buddy to the one and only LAURIE ANDERSON and to provide her with a lesson on the instrument. I will also be delivering a few Drum Buddies to a furniture store in Williamsburg called FRESH KILLS FOR THE PEOPLE. If I can get my shit together I am hoping to do at least one of the gigs with multiple Drum Buddies - like at least 5. go to our website for more info on the new Drum Buddies and for updates on the DJ gig venues.

― ian, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 20:36 (seventeen years ago)
The Japan Society are notorious for being jerks about quid pro quo guestlisting of people. Fuck them.

― Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 20:49 (seventeen years ago)
i once saw a program of artist videos at collective unconscious and the drum buddy ad was one of them. it killed, people were crying with tears of laughter, it was such a demented video. and at the time no one could tell if the product was real or not.
― sanskrit, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 20:49 (seventeen years ago)
The drum buddy is cool because its a SEQUENCER.
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 20:50 (seventeen years ago)
I have drum buddy DJ vinyl
i went to the drum buddy page and read about it and was all "holy shit!", but then i listened to the samples and it doesn't actually sound that cool :(
― Jordan, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 20:51 (seventeen years ago)

― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 20:52 (seventeen years ago)

― sanskrit, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 20:53 (seventeen years ago)

― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 20:55 (seventeen years ago)
Anyway, I know IAN doesn't like Quintron but he show I saw with him in like 2002 was in my top 5 shows of alltime. Good backing band (mems XBXRX) on roller skates.
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 20:56 (seventeen years ago)
i think i saw quintron with momus but i may be conflating seeing both momus and quintron with stereo total (you can all make fun of me now)
― bell_labs, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 20:58 (seventeen years ago)
seeing both momus and quintron with stereo total ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS
― bell_labs, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 20:59 (seventeen years ago)

― dmr, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 21:00 (seventeen years ago)

― bell_labs, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 21:02 (seventeen years ago)

― bell_labs, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 21:03 (seventeen years ago)

"contrary" Laurel
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 21:35 (seventeen years ago)
Not true! Just busy and biking.
― Laurel, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 21:42 (seventeen years ago)
just to be clear I am repping for Quintron in general but probably not gonna see him "DJ" with "five drum buddies"
― dmr, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 21:44 (seventeen years ago)
Maybe someone who knows what's going on at Glasslands has an idea? I would imagine it may just mean replacing the drummer with a drum machine and no backup?
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 21:53 (seventeen years ago)

my throat is not well....
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Friday, 7 December 2007 16:26 (seventeen years ago)
sexyDancer, could you smell the personal care products in the audience from up there? It was overpowering
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:55 (seventeen years ago)
And it wasn't the Lysol douche?
― Laurel, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:06 (seventeen years ago)
xp: Yeah me and sound-dude were joking that we should start using a smell machine instead of a smoke machine. I think precocious teen in audience make funny prank. The last time we played a college, kids showed up in their pyjamas and we had strong competition with the laundry room.

we'll prob go on around 10? unless they make us go last for playing hour-plus sets.
― sexyDancer, Friday, 7 December 2007 19:42 (seventeen years ago)
Ok that's more reasonable.
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Friday, 7 December 2007 19:46 (seventeen years ago)
So. Anyone for Don P's tonight for KK/BBQ?
― Laurel, Friday, 7 December 2007 20:14 (seventeen years ago)

― chicago kevin, Friday, 7 December 2007 20:17 (seventeen years ago)

― chicago kevin, Friday, 7 December 2007 20:22 (seventeen years ago)
There's no actual BBQ = no dice
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Friday, 7 December 2007 20:25 (seventeen years ago)
you will miss out. when your 55 and your kids ask you why you didn't go see kk/bbq you'll tell them about whatever it is you're doing tonight and they'll eye you with a combination of pity and scorn and never look up to their dad again.
― chicago kevin, Friday, 7 December 2007 20:36 (seventeen years ago)

― bb, Saturday, 8 December 2007 19:06 (seventeen years ago)
I tried to take a picture of the long table room but it didn't come out. That building was like an industrial version of 7th Guest

amy went back to north carolina this weekend to see her mom and rs/b-lips were playing a couple hours away so she went and sent me pictures all night. greg has a big assed beard right now.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 10 December 2007 16:12 (seventeen years ago)
I think all of North Carolina has a big ass beard right now -- we have someone from Asheville staying at our house and it's ridic. Gross.
― Laurel, Monday, 10 December 2007 16:22 (seventeen years ago)
asheville's where greg lives now. and where the show was i think.
fuck i want to get out of town. warm lake + cold air over the city = everything's been covered in ice since friday night. and they already issued a winter storm alert for tomorrow.

A++ would do it again

So, the Cave van broke down in Stamford, CT. Colin from USA is a Monster was kind enough to pick up their gear and asses and bring them into the city. The show at Death by Audio is still on for tonight. They are very broke but are ready to throw down. The show is with La Otracina. This is a track from the LP http://www.sendspace.com/file/q3ltp3 I think that noise dudes in NYC would appreciate the Cave vibe. Do you guys know Rotten Milk? He's in the band on this tour. He's behind some of the Terry Plumming hijinks.
― Trip Maker, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 15:31 (seventeen years ago)
considering going to this but i'm wondering what the crowd is gonna be like (in number and disposition). i could always stay warm at home with a cheap bottle of vodka and fabriclive36.
