massholes = the worst drivers
― bell_labs, Monday, 26 November 2007 05:33 (seventeen years ago)
what classes and sections of MA comprise the true core of the Masshole population?
― Dr Morbius, Monday, 26 November 2007 14:23 (seventeen years ago)
What is the British version of Massachusetts? I am very interested in what they have to say about class and the Boston accent!
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Monday, 26 November 2007 14:40 (seventeen years ago)
o jeez u guys only those from vt nh and maine can really wield the phrase w/the proper contempt and resignation.
clearing a few more things up: massholes are actually the best drivers, at least as far as skill, manners may be another thing; quincy is more like the north jersey of boston, southie is the bronx; as far as the core of massholes, hmmm generally this term is used to describe those who come up from mass to the northern ne states and behave poorly - so the relatively wealthy and moblie, aka the people w/o the accents from eastern mass.
― jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 14:50 (seventeen years ago)
the accent is more or less a working class thing these days. used to be there were variations for everyone.
― jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 14:52 (seventeen years ago)
does that make the north end brooklyn?
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Monday, 26 November 2007 14:52 (seventeen years ago)

Chelmsford, Lowell, Tewksbury, Wilmington, Burlington, Bedford,
chums-fid, lowell, tooks-bree, wilmingon, burlington, bed-fid.
scituate- sea erosion = beachfront homes washing into the brine.
508= piece of crap area code. i went from 617 to 508 to 978 from sixth grade to my junior year of highschool. i don't even know my parents phone number anymore because they have another goddamn area code.
walpole- why didn't they change the name of the town to cedar junction? because whenever anyone ever says "i used to live in walpole" i automatically think "convicted felon".
― chicago kevin, Monday, 26 November 2007 18:15 (seventeen years ago)

― jhøshea, Monday, 26 November 2007 18:15 (seventeen years ago)
The City of Newton in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, is an important residential suburb of Boston, which abuts it on the east. According to the 2000 census, the population of Newton was 83,829, making it the tenth largest city in the state.

Even though I lived in LC, RI you used to be able to dial into parts of 617/508 area code without 1-NPA! It was awesome. Also, for a while you could just dial the last 4 digits of my exchange to connect!
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Monday, 26 November 2007 18:19 (seventeen years ago)
wtf 774 area code?
whenever anyone ever says "i used to live in walpole" i automatically think "convicted felon".

― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Monday, 26 November 2007 18:20 (seventeen years ago)
i grew up on the nh border and when i was a kid we could dial into salem and plaistow and i think as far as nashua without having to dial 603 and get charged for long distance.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 26 November 2007 18:23 (seventeen years ago)
when i moved neighborhoods in RI in the mid-nineties, one of our AOL access numbers became in-state long distance somehow. thousand dollar phone bills ensued. NOT COOL.
― ian, Monday, 26 November 2007 18:24 (seventeen years ago)
That happened to me too, Ian!
Also some parts of Fall River, MA were long distance so my war dialing caused this.
Also loved all the boy geniuses who would *69 me.

sorry
Crazy guy's house is next to that little park on the corner of Amory and Boylston.
I've lived on this block for a year and so far I haven't really figured out what the deal is with that house - I've met a middle-aged Asian woman who lives there, but I think it's a duplex. Although I once saw her shoveling snow in a pair of Devo-style yellow coveralls, I don't think she's on some Marian Zazeela life-auteur shit (the video monitors are on 24/7/365, and right now there's a bunch of trash art nailed to the fence as well) - the crazy guy's probably her neighbor or son or something.
