Late '70's/early '80's britishes sportscars were at the peak of their already legendary unreliability. A TR-7 WILL let you down, probably when you're miles away from anywhere too. They did look pretty cool when they came out though, the curse of brit sportscars, they all look cool, they ALL break down. There were a few similar cars that came out over here at the same time, like the hang on this is fucking boring, why am i typing this?
NOISE car surely should be a PLYMOUTH SUPERBIRD:

"5. international scout"
you see more and more fancy old-tyme scout action here on the island in the summer. people here go for a more rustic look though. to blend in with the locals. but they are all very cool all the same.
this one is a gas:

i love my is250 to death and i felt the same way about the integra, but man i wish i hadn't totaled the cressida. it handled like a yacht but it had a sick v6 - on the backroads it felt like you were racing a hovercraft and on the fwy it felt like a concorde.
also it had a MANUAL 12-band equalizer in the dash with little sliders and lites.

I think these are still worth almost as much as they were in 1998 http://www.aceleras.net/data/media/22/Bmw-325is-e30-04.jpg
somebody in my old neighborhood had one of these when I was car-obsessed 12 year old, used to ride my bike past when it was parked on the street and DROOL -- cooler than a corvette, even, maybe.
yesterday I heard this loud THRUUUUM emerge from traffic on upper Broadway and it was a Maserati.

635 CSis are rad. the BMW team that raced them here in the 1980s were sponsored by phillip morris and had the black and gold JPS branding like those old lotus F1 cars, srsly the most beautiful race car i have seen in the flesh. (can't find decent pic on google images unfortunately.)

my parents used to have this 1977 Chrysler Cordoba that I loved with all my heart and soul.
http://www.californiaclassics.nl/images/chrysler/cordoba-1977-01-01.jpg
a little known fact about the Chrysler Cordoba is that no matter what kind of camera you take a picture of it with, the photo will appear with vignette finishing, every time.

Pashmina, you reminded me of a very bad joke from my childhood, which is..
Q: Why didn't the British ever specialize in manufacturing computers? A: Because they couldn't figure out how to make them leak oil.
We had a Triumph TR-6 for a while in my childhood. No, wait, actually we had two: one went on blocks in the back yard for parts.
