I can't speak for present-day rock superstar Beth, but I went up and talked to her after a show in 2003 or so and told her how much the band had meant to me personally, etc., and she was totally nice/polite/sweet about it. That's about all I ask out of my rock idols. So fuck the haters!

you all are really wrong about mtvU, especially the dude who says they play non-music programming. they maybe did a few specials about AIDS or something but at that point its just time for a nap anyway.
also ionno at what time you dudes were watching mtvU but i always saw plenty of tv on the radio/islands/el-p/lupe/tokyo police club and usually some type of reggae/ton bloc.
fuck you haters.

one month passes...

The best individual scenes from T3 lose to the worst individual scenes from T2, but I agree with those who like the idea of the third movie better. T2 is an absolutely undefeated thrill ride of guns, explosions, one-liners, twists, soundtrack intensity, special effects (T-1000 still looks great, fuck the haters) - but T3 follows through on the fundamentally bleak time-loop premise and conclusions of the original Terminator. The future that we can't change - which in fact resets itself to adjust for our pitiful attempts to alter it - is a less overused idea in fiction than the dark future that we narrowly avert.

(Though, the X-Men books have been playing around, unofficially, with the same basic outline for a couple of decades now - NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO there is always at least one horrible future where mutants get thrown into death camps...)

IMO its the first great album of 2011. I didn't like the Hazards of Love but have much <3 for Crane Wife and Picaresque. This is a step in a different direction, way more folk and country influence than the ragtimey victorian stuff, but I like it all. Fuck the haters.
