My mom kept forgetting that Andy and Lucy from Twin Peaks were Twin Peaks characters and not Northern Exposure characters and was often disappointed when entire episodes went by without them.

my parents LOVED this show. i wasn't old enough to appreciate it much.

it's a grower. much like the simpsons, the first two seasons were all about the novelty of the jewish doctor in alaska, then it moved on to all the secondary characters.

i think there was even a period where joel was in contract renegotiations so they just had him disappear visionquesting in the snow somewhere.

i remember my parents being way into this show. i got my mom the first season on dvd for x-mas a few years ago.

my family and i used to watch this show together when i was a kid. after that on pbs we'd watch mystery. lol midwest liberals.

i vividly remember the episode about cicely's beginning -- the 'joke' at the end is when the gothy femme one is dying the butch one says there's a different hip town in california they can go to, 'they call it the city of angels'. poignant shit.

started rewatching season one on Netflix -- misremembered the goofy fantasy/dream sequences as a later season shark jumping thing but they started in like the 5th and 6th episodes, but otherwise enjoying seeing this again.
