My mom kept forgetting that Andy and Lucy from Twin Peaks were Twin Peaks characters and not Northern Exposure characters and was often disappointed when entire episodes went by without them.
― nickalicious, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:36 (seventeen years ago)
they do a pretty great twin peaks parody/homage in one NE episode
― Jordan, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:38 (seventeen years ago)

― s1ocki, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:48 (seventeen years ago)
remember the episode set like 100 years before about cicely being this artistic centre, "the prague of the north" or something and rob morrow played kafka? and maybe gertrude stein was in it?
that episode was awesome!
― s1ocki, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:49 (seventeen years ago)
artistic center, i should say
and the two women who founded the city were lesbians?
― milo z, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:50 (seventeen years ago)
gay lesbians.
― s1ocki, Friday, 21 December 2007 23:53 (seventeen years ago)
my parents LOVED this show. i wasn't old enough to appreciate it much.
― latebloomer, Saturday, 22 December 2007 00:11 (seventeen years ago)
it's a grower. much like the simpsons, the first two seasons were all about the novelty of the jewish doctor in alaska, then it moved on to all the secondary characters.
― sanskrit, Saturday, 22 December 2007 00:23 (seventeen years ago)
i think there was even a period where joel was in contract renegotiations so they just had him disappear visionquesting in the snow somewhere.

"Chris, one morning, plays an eerie, melancholy song that he used to miss while doing time. Meanwhile, a listener, Edgar Hankins, commits suicide, leaving a note blaming Chris for the sad song he played on the radio. Grappling with the weight of his responsibility, Chris alters his play list to only upbeat tunes. After Adam berates him, and folks at a town meeting claim his new songs are boring, Chris rethinks his decision and brings the whole spectrum of emotions back to KBHR."

my family and i used to watch this show together when i was a kid. after that on pbs we'd watch mystery. lol midwest liberals.
i vividly remember the episode about cicely's beginning -- the 'joke' at the end is when the gothy femme one is dying the butch one says there's a different hip town in california they can go to, 'they call it the city of angels'. poignant shit.
john corbett is a republican??

started rewatching season one on Netflix -- misremembered the goofy fantasy/dream sequences as a later season shark jumping thing but they started in like the 5th and 6th episodes, but otherwise enjoying seeing this again.

from his biography on his website"Maurice is very serious. He doesn't take anything lightly. I don't take anything heavy. Politically, he's a little bit just slightly to the north of Attila the Hun. I'm sort of an anarchist."

thinking about buying the dvd set but I am concerned about the subbing in of generic music for the original soundtrack. For anyone who has the dvds is this an issue or should I just buy them already.
