Aeon Flux Poster

Can people explain me, if Aeon Flux is supposed to be such an intelligent series, why does the protagonist look like someone's porn fantasy girl?

I've always found it suspect when male (I assume AF was designed by a guy?) comic artists and cartoonists write seemingly independent and strong female characters, and then draw them like their teenage wet dreams.

I have been around here lately and I see what goes on. I do think it is part of a much larger pattern of being a general bitch. It is to the point where I consider not being a part of this board anymore because it is so pointlessly negative. Vahid is a very big part of this dynamic

jergïns, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 07:22 (seventeen years ago)

Wrong.

Jesus is given too much credit even by secular liberals.

he was more or less a garden variety ascetic in a time when such deluded men were common. his values were not all that revolutionary, they werent far off from what other frauds were teaching at the time. he was simply lucky to have died at the right place and time and to have inspired the right people to keep his cult going.

i really cringe when secular liberals claim to admire Jesus. his ideas he believed only because he believed them as the word of his fraudulent god.

we have moved beyond the need for religion. atheism is imperative. in fact armed struggle against believers is our only hope of true salvation from the ways of the god-frauds. science and reason be our "gods", and the truth be our light. what say you?

Whatever. That thread was shitty from the start; i only acted obnoxious to get some sort of revenge for my wasted time (the thread should have some attached note: "don't waste your time on this pretentious discussion; instead read d'Holbach")

John McCain (72) has announced today that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (44) is his vice presidential running mate on the eve of the Republican National Convention. Palin is a self-styled gun packing hockey playing mother of five children, and political reformer, who has been governor of her state less than two years.

McCain picked Palin in an attempt to appeal to the disenfranchised Hillary Clinton supporters, and women who make up the majority of voters in the United States. If McCain is elected President, Palin will be the first woman Vice President, making history.

Palin is a brilliant pick. Unlike the arrogant first woman Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi who wanted a jet as big as Air Force One to fly around and promote her book, Palin saved her state hundreds of thousands of dollars by getting rid of the private governor jet to fly commercial airlines
, drives herself around without security staff, and she has reformed Alaska’s state government. She’s humble, hard working, and honest, and unlike Obama, Palin has executive experience as a state governor. Palin also has a nearly 90% approval rate by voters in her state.

hey y'all,

just curious if there any others originally from, living in, or familiar with the american south.

i live in mississippi, and i was born here.

i'm sure there are plenty of scathing opinions, but maybe some folks have had good times here?

race relations obviously are a bit fucked, but i think that's getting a lot better. in some cases, the terrifying aspects of our past can lead folks to be more conscious about stereotypes and genuinely work to bridge gaps. in other cases, prejudice is still intense. (of course, i've seen that all over the world, not just the south.)

on the positive side, i do think southern hospitality is a real thing. and literature, music, and food here is terrific.

thoughts, anyone?
