QUESTION ABOUT SELLING RARE RECORDS

my friend dara (in DC) has a really nice collection of opera records (plus i guess other stuff??) from the 50's from her grandmother. she looked up a bunch of them, and theyre like hundred-dollar records. she's not quite sure what to do with the collection, but shes not tryna build her own collection?

ebay? record dealers? i know there are noizers who know more about selling recs than i do

while we're at it, how should vinyl be shipped? In between two pieces of carboard taped together, or are there special vinyl-shipping boxes out there?

69- ebay or if there's a record dealer/specialty store in your area (like beverly's rare records here in chicago) take them there.

milo- there are both 7 and 12 inch mailers readily available, uline makes them. you should be able to find them at a decent vinyl shop or a shipping supply store. or the post office. failing that, two pieces of thick cardboard will work.

two years pass...

ebay vs discogs? what's best for expensive stuff?

if a seller on discogs has something listed quite high, should i just undercut their price with my item, or list it on ebay at 0.99 and hope for the best? as a buyer i realise that some sellers list stuff at unreasonably high prices on discogs

i'm downsizing my collection because i'm moving to a new country in october so have to get rid of stuff -- profit is a secondary concern. ideally i don't want things languishing on discogs forever. like, do people actually go on discogs to buy old slampt records?
