Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 18:11 (sixteen years ago)

hey guys

given a choice to play or see a show, monkeytown or zebulon?

Milton Parker, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 18:35 (sixteen years ago)

as in, I like the new Monkeytown location and it's a good place to play / see a show, but does anyone have a take on Zebulon

Milton Parker, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 18:45 (sixteen years ago)

I like Zebulon. More of a bar/bistro with a small stage - nice sound - have seen some excellent jazz there. I've played at Monkeytown around the corner and that was fun - like playing in the middle of someone's all white living room.

Capitaine Jay Vee, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 19:16 (sixteen years ago)

whos going to see LINDSTROM next week

i'd like to but for a Fixed @ Studio B type show his set is probably gonna be what, 12:30 to 2am? dunno if I'm up for it < / pussy >

dmr, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 23:56 (sixteen years ago)

I wish it was at Santos, that place is soooo much easier for me to get home from

also trying to decide if I wanna do ESG / Wilkes / Sal Principato at Le Poisson Rouge this saturday. flaked on Twitch / Kerri Chandler last sat., maybe this is a good makeup date. (is ESG worth seeing in 2009? anyone seen em?)

dmr, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 23:58 (sixteen years ago)

Monkeytown is a much more interesting place for a show because of the four-wall screens and the couches, but sound issues are more likely to ensue, so if you're prone to sound issues or especially picky you might prefer Zebulon.

Joe Bob 1 Tooth (Hurting 2), Thursday, 22 January 2009 02:17 (sixteen years ago)

I was gonna do ESG but ended up getting sick; gf has seen them many times and consider it a good time. I like Poisson Rouge as a club; it's a nice space.

i wanna roll stuff UP, i don't wanna NOT roll stuff up!!!! (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 22 January 2009 05:18 (sixteen years ago)

homie bhabha (max), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 20:33 (sixteen years ago)

i saw terry riley (it was boring) at lpr and can no longer think of it as anything other than a supper club venue. i can't imagine like dancing there or anything. this might be confused and embarrassing, but did the lpr used to be the village vanguard or something?, and the current village vanguard isn't really the village vanguard?

schlump, Tuesday, 3 March 2009 20:47 (sixteen years ago)

thats prob ok since nite jewel & glass candy arent really dance-y bands

homie bhabha (max), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 20:50 (sixteen years ago)

they have a smoke machine

Fox Force Five Punchline (sexyDancer), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 21:00 (sixteen years ago)

LPR was the Village Gate. (I saw a Fats Waller revue and They Might Be Giants there.)

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 3 March 2009 21:15 (sixteen years ago)

it was also the dance club "Life" for a bit late 90s
