i think i only saw a few episodes, but i remember transformation taking on whole new meaning when playing, like 'ok let's be cats now!' and me going 'yeah sure but we have to transform first' and then going through contortions etc lol

Manimal was scheduled opposite CBS's popular soap opera Dallas, and was canceled after eight episodes. However, Manimal was very popular in a number of other countries where it was broadcasted. <---- e.g., Canada

Didn't realise that he was the same guy that was in Falcon Crest and Casualty.

Evolution is a process too slow to save this show.

the one where he turns into a bird is horrifying. i can't imagine how nightmarish that would have been to a channel-surfing kid.

slam dunk, Wednesday, 19 November 2014 07:23 (ten years ago)

the bird transformation is some proto-black swan shit

bizarro gazzara, Wednesday, 19 November 2014 11:50 (ten years ago)

If I remember correctly Stan Winston (of Aliens, Predator, Terminator, and Jurassic Park fame) did the makeup f/x for Manimal

I had the Manimal Annual as a kid: http://www.comicvine.com/manimal-annual-1985/4000-327539/

The behind the scenes make-up f/x photos were awesome/terrifying. The short stories and comics were not.
