max, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:16 (sixteen years ago)

its the journey not the destination

69, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:23 (sixteen years ago)

just an RFI

69, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:25 (sixteen years ago)

69, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:25 (sixteen years ago)

no baked goods?!

max, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:27 (sixteen years ago)

just imagine please

69, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:27 (sixteen years ago)

we're just figuring out the contours of our situation

69, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:28 (sixteen years ago)

i have never ridden amtrak east. i got the coast starlight from Oakland to LA a few years back. the observation car was boss. there was no beer in the restaurant car. the pacific surfliner definitely had negro modelo last month though, so maybe that was a one-off. i ate before i got on the train, but they have a restaurant car.

caek, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:28 (sixteen years ago)

lollipops - "green dragon" - pill capsules?

max, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:31 (sixteen years ago)

ok ok what i mean is how to actually $|\/|0k3 is it just not poss?? we have a sleeper can and theres a shower that emits hot water and a few stops where we can step out for cig breaks

69, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:33 (sixteen years ago)

bring a carb?

max, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:35 (sixteen years ago)

simmer 1/8 of weed in 1/2 gallon of milk (dont let it burn)--let sit in fridge for a day or two & then strain weed out w/ cheescloth. one shot of this will get u pretty high.

max, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:38 (sixteen years ago)

in the early eighties you could do whatever you wanted on an amtrak and nobody gave a shit

now, I'd be thinking about maxing out during your scheduled stops

xpost OTOH max's method is reputed to induce visions

J0hn D., Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:39 (sixteen years ago)

green dragon

max, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:40 (sixteen years ago)

must we refrigerate prior to drinkin?

69, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:40 (sixteen years ago)

i dunno. for all i know u dont even need to simmer the milk/bud--these are ancient methods passed along to me by learned men, i just dont fuck with the formula

max, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:41 (sixteen years ago)

i hear ya

69, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:42 (sixteen years ago)

stops on the continental lines can be 30 mins or so if that's any use to you

caek, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:43 (sixteen years ago)

despite the retardo name green dragon is a pretty rad concoction, if you can stand the taste

max, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:43 (sixteen years ago)

lol at me thinking baked good meant baked goods and worrying about beer. different goals from my train journeys.

Dube Tube
Though not used for the actual smoking of cannabis, the Dube Tube or spoof, known in Canada (Ontario) as an Exhaler or a Future, can be used to partially mask the smell of the exhaled smoke. It is constructed by simply stuffing a few dryer sheets, or facial tissues dampened with perfume, into an empty roll of toilet paper or paper towels. When exhaled through the sploof, the smoke takes with it the scent of the dryer sheets used, producing a pleasant — although still partially smokey — smell. The Dube Tube is known by other names, such as de-hooter, silencer, bong buster, spoof, spoofer, cannabis killer, hush, downy tube, bus token(for covert smoking on a bus) and others, depending on region. "Blowers" are even sold at headshops.

we always called this thing a "carb" but it surprisingly effective imo

max, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:45 (sixteen years ago)

yeah that (into steam-filled shower) is high on the list!

69, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:48 (sixteen years ago)

known in Canada (Ontario)

s1ocki, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:53 (sixteen years ago)

I went Memphis > Chi > Sacramento roundtrip last August and can't see any way combustibles will work -- I think it has to be ingestibles, solid or liquid.

WmC, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 16:53 (sixteen years ago)

was that cuz there were dogs rolling through or because smoke stops are too brief/open?

person of interest (jergins), Tuesday, 17 February 2009 18:32 (sixteen years ago)

69, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 18:56 (sixteen years ago)

i have never travelled x-country by rail but i'm guessing: ingest or go without

obi don quixote (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 17 February 2009 19:04 (sixteen years ago)

although ingesting always has really intense time-dilation effects for me so the journey would feel 3 months long

obi don quixote (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 17 February 2009 19:05 (sixteen years ago)

cant u just smoke out the window

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 19:08 (sixteen years ago)

rail cruisin

on some charter shit no doubt (Curt1s Stephens), Tuesday, 17 February 2009 19:09 (sixteen years ago)

The windows don't open, so no smoking out the window. Smoke stops, there are just 2-3 between Chi and SF, and one of those is in the middle of the night. None of them have sheltered areas (away from sightlines I mean) that I recall. In the sleeper cars, there are so many tiny cabins jammed in together that you can practically smell each other's sweat, much less anything ignited.

four years pass...

man, i dont know if i ever really rounded back on this:

we decided to bring a jar full of oil, ate spoonfuls, got TOOOOOO hi, ended up sitting next to each other across from two strangers (the amtrak style of dining seating), and @nnie was flipping out trying not to laugh and also trying not to make eye contact w the ponytail bro from canada across from us, who was prattling on and on, cause she was wearing a shirt from her MTL alma mater and couldnt manage convo. and then this ponytail (whom we called david foster wallace RIP) blew up the bathroom in day three of the trip. good times.

so we moved. and we love cali, and we're getting married in oakland next june.
