jhøshea, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 16:03 (seventeen years ago)

will it be good - i am racist against seeing reunited bands

jhøshea, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 16:03 (seventeen years ago)

i am racist as well--they're playing with the drummer from Ch3rry Valance, dunno if it will be good. i think this will be my 1st reunited and it feels so good show

Mr. Que, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 16:05 (seventeen years ago)

u got a link to the tour dates?

jhøshea, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 16:06 (seventeen years ago)

69, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 16:22 (seventeen years ago)

lol 90s indie rock thread

I'm going to see Malkmus at Bowery tonight

gotta get Polvo tickets, I only saw them once in college. Mr. Que was probably there.

dmr, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 16:28 (seventeen years ago)

I went to nyc Slint reunion show, that one was pretty good

dmr, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 16:29 (seventeen years ago)

that new Malkmus is pretty damn good! didn't go see him in DC tho. Janet rules.

i hope polvo are good, i only saw them that one time, too. i remember they played Solitary Set, prolly my favorite song off that CLTNDA. i think they opened for pavement on the CR tour but for some (dumbass) reason i skipped that show.

Mr. Que, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 16:32 (seventeen years ago)

hmm. can't imagine I didn't go to that, maybe I did see Polvo twice. I remember seeing Apples in Stereo open for Pavement one time but I think that was later, like Brighten the Corners tour.

dmr, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 16:41 (seventeen years ago)

Yes! I saw Crooked Fingers maybe three years ago and Matt Gentling played with them and they did a couple Archers' songs and yeah, that was awesome.

i never really listened to grunge bands. or even grunge-related bands. or people who were friends with grunge bands. or people that grunge bands wanted to sound like. or pre-grunge grunge pioneers. or whatever. except for the wipers. and poison idea. and husker du. and squirrel bait. and the pixies. that's as grungey as i got. the only grunge albums i ever bought were mudhoney s/t and mudhoney superfuzz and mudhoney touch me i'm sick.

scott seward, Saturday, 19 April 2008 19:18 (seventeen years ago)

i like a pearl jam song. black! that soung is awesome! i wish that song had come out when i was 16. i would have fantasized about killing myself to it. new dawn fades was my go-to song for when i was gonna kill myself when i was 16. i know, duh, how obvious.

and, wait! i own a copy of no code! i think that's the one. i've never played the whole thing. i bought it new cuz it was a dollar and it is an awesome design package. comes with all these big photo art cards. i'm a sucker for good packaging. i bought that when they were selling a bunch of copies of neil young's dead man soundtrack for 2 or 3 bucks new (cuz nobody wanted them at the time) and i didn't buy any! i coulda been rich. they go for 150-200 bucks sealed now. don't even talk to me about the stacks of dollar copies of pauls boutique at strawberries after that came out. oof. i could be a thousandare by now.

scott seward, Saturday, 19 April 2008 19:25 (seventeen years ago)

i guess i listened to the melvins way after grunge. i never really even thought of them as a grunge act. i listened to them when i was in full on stoner/doom/sabbath metal phase. them and Earth and the Thrones i never associated w/the rest.

jaxon, Saturday, 19 April 2008 20:19 (seventeen years ago)

MGMT - oracular hipstacular

get bent, Saturday, 19 April 2008 22:22 (seventeen years ago)

strgn, Monday, 21 April 2008 09:47 (seventeen years ago)

i heard corduroy by pearl jam on the radio this weekend - that is DEF my favorite

69, Monday, 21 April 2008 14:36 (seventeen years ago)

Telex - Looking for Saint Tropez

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Monday, 21 April 2008 15:29 (seventeen years ago)

i liked pearl jam in hs and kinda drifted away from the fold after that but i've been thinking lately about giving them a new listen with adult ears

get bent, Monday, 21 April 2008 15:54 (seventeen years ago)

the hits sound great on rock radio!

get bent, Monday, 21 April 2008 15:57 (seventeen years ago)

both Pearl Jam and STP hold up surprisingly well

Alice in Chains also, to a degree

AJ Styles, Monday, 21 April 2008 16:11 (seventeen years ago)

i'm so glad weiland got the boot from velvet revolver... now maybe they can live up to their potential.

get bent, Monday, 21 April 2008 16:13 (seventeen years ago)

also, that one Jane's Addiction album everyone had

AJ Styles, Monday, 21 April 2008 16:19 (seventeen years ago)

nothing's shocking was a cool record. they could do zep riffs pretty good when they wanted to.

i hated stp when they showed up, but i really liked when they got a little bit weirder. and their stuff definitely sounds good on the radio. big bang baby is my fave. and black hole sun is still my fave soundgarden.

scott seward, Monday, 21 April 2008 16:50 (seventeen years ago)

yeah i like first three STP actually, but much as pearl jam, the second and the third were less zeitgeisty and have therefore aged better

69, Monday, 21 April 2008 17:25 (seventeen years ago)

in fact purple was the first CD i ever bought!

69, Monday, 21 April 2008 17:26 (seventeen years ago)

my first CD purchase was Faith No More's "The Real Thing" and I stand by my purchase

AJ Styles, Monday, 21 April 2008 17:29 (seventeen years ago)

this might sound jerky, but i think i might have been a little too old for grunge? i spent the 80's listening to metal and hardcore and touch & go and homestead stuff, etc, etc, and the grunge stuff just seemed pretty ho hum to me. honestly, i said this before and i'm totally serious, when i first heard nevermind i thought it might be a new squirrel bait record. i got excited for a minute there.

Maria :D, Monday, 21 April 2008 18:34 (seventeen years ago)

Bleach is superior

also I don't think being old is in and of itself a jerky thing to do

AJ Styles, Monday, 21 April 2008 19:00 (seventeen years ago)

i got the new atmosphere cd in the mail. should i bother listening to it or immediately trade it in at the record store? i need to know quick. i'm leaving for the store soon.

Maria :D, Monday, 21 April 2008 19:04 (seventeen years ago)

oops, that's me scott.

Maria :D, Monday, 21 April 2008 19:04 (seventeen years ago)

this scott

scott seward, Monday, 21 April 2008 19:05 (seventeen years ago)

grunge was the big thing when I was in high school, it totally threw me b/c I grew up listening to dance music, r&b and hip hop and then that was not cool at all w/everyone I hung out with. I still like nirvana and hole. stp, never listened really.. I got one of their cds from bmg and my mom opened the box & was offended by something or other & made me send it back! I was def a fan of soundgarden superunknown at the time but I don't have it any more, same for pearl jam 2nd album and jane's addiction.

still have the juliana hatfield three CD which might have been the first one I bought :)

[song just changed on my itunes shuffle & I'm like, hey, this is cool, what is this.. FAKE ACCENTS]

daria-g, Monday, 21 April 2008 19:48 (seventeen years ago)

69, Monday, 21 April 2008 20:03 (seventeen years ago)

bb, Monday, 21 April 2008 20:21 (seventeen years ago)

Did somebody say Helter Skelter?

AJ Styles, Monday, 21 April 2008 20:35 (seventeen years ago)

hmmmmm, thanks a lot william shatner.

bb, Monday, 21 April 2008 20:38 (seventeen years ago)

hahaha, i don't know what i was thinking with that atmosphere question. five seconds in the cd player and it was a goner. i think i had him confused with prefuse 73 for some reason.

scott seward, Monday, 21 April 2008 23:04 (seventeen years ago)

i love Live Through This!

scott seward, Monday, 21 April 2008 23:04 (seventeen years ago)

I was gonna say, anyone who sez he was too old for grunge in '93 probably isn't gonna be feeling Atmosphere in '08

dmr, Monday, 21 April 2008 23:08 (seventeen years ago)

you know what album i really liked in the grunge era? that album by big head todd & the monsters. BITTERSWEET! MORE SWEET THAN BITTER! i bought that one. i was mostly listening to roxy music, steely dan, thin lizzy, and eyehategod in the early 90's. and death metal.

scott seward, Monday, 21 April 2008 23:29 (seventeen years ago)
