i dont personally possess invites to either site - but i can share my amazing secret for getting them!
go to the message board of any torrent site you already belong to and beg. its just like invite threads here except people actually give u invites. it helps to have a good ratio on the site yr begging from.

Do not allow Hollywood/Bollywood mainstream. From its inception, KaraGarga was designed as a source for non-mainstream and off-beat movies. We try to distance ourselves from the pervasive and easily available Hollywood (and Bollywood) mainstream and show people that a huge and exciting world of cinema exists beyond that. Therefore we do not allow any mainstream movies on the tracker. The definition of "mainstream" is very elusive and almost impossible to state precisely. It is within the discretion of the tracker moderators to decide on each specific case. As a general rule, we limit our definition of mainstream to Hollywood and Bollywood movies made after the 70s. Classic Hollywood movies are allowed and welcome - even though some of them may enjoy mainstream popularity, we have high respect for their artistic quality and importance in cinema history. We draw the line with the advent of the big-buget Hollywood blockbuster (with movies like Jaws and Star Wars) which brought on a rapid deterioration in the quality of movies. Modern independent productions are allowed and we might make special exceptions for new Hollywood movies from special directors. Also allowed are most "mainstream" movies from other countries - what might be a common mainstream movie in Hungary might be totally unknown elsewhere. For further information, see this collective forum thread for the discussion of the "mainstreamness" of specific movies. We are well aware that the enforcement of this rule makes a subjective judgment on the artistic quality of a movie that some people are bound to disagree with. However, this rule is the very foundation which has made KaraGarga such a distinguished source for high-class world cinema.

jon the continued wes anderson presence (and a few other guys - cronenberg, depalma, etc) on kg is HUGE CONTROVERSY, every time out almost.
also if anyone needs a kg invite let me know. if you have an invite to a good music site or whatever even better.

karagara is all bolly? Sounds innerestin.
― forksclovetofu, Monday, 21 April 2008 02:46 (seventeen years ago)
nah there's barely any bolly (what's weird is like i think cinemageddon has that 'no mainstream/bollywood' thing too like god you just can't avoid the bollywood, every fucking torrent site its nothing but bollywood and eight different versions of the mist), it's foreign/art cinema, i use it mainly for old movies that for some reason ain't on dvd.
― balls, Monday, 21 April 2008 02:50 (seventeen years ago)
thanks blount, sent u a stmusic code

― Edward III, Monday, 21 April 2008 19:44 (seventeen years ago)
― balls, Monday, 21 April 2008 20:02 (seventeen years ago)
STMusic is not bad, it's just not Oink, but nothing is yet, which is, yeah, the whole point of this thread. :(
Kargarga is fucking cool. Best for movies, though.
IndieTorrents has nothing I want, ever. (Not that I'm ungrateful for the invite Dan!) It seems like the reason it has that awful name is because they don't allow anything that's not listed in the "indie" category on AMG. So the new Apples in Stereo is the top downloaded thing this week, oh good for them! I guess I'll listen to that tonight while I cut myself so I can feel something, anything.
― kenan, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:03 (seventeen years ago)
actually it's anything that is not an RIAA-affiliated release, but yeah, there is a lot of crap there to sift through
― dan m, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:12 (seventeen years ago)
The Apples in Stereo are ok!

― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 22 April 2008 21:27 (seventeen years ago)
does karagarga delete inactive accounts? I was using it for a while to get Frederick Wiseman movies but then forgot about it.
― milo z, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 21:50 (seventeen years ago)
maybe? i had mine for a while w/out using it really, my old computer was ancient, no dvd burner, etc and so for like the first year all i'd downloaded was skidoo and that was like five months after i got the membership. if your ratio's good and you have downloaded stuff you're probably fine is my guess. only way to find out is find out i guess.
btw milo is it you that's the other person on ilx who's waiting for mtv's undressed to hit dvd?
