the night they played here I was so depressed I couldn't leave the house. And I wouldn't have gone anyway, I've seen 'em a bunch of times. But yeah, they're good.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 20 September 2004 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

MSP: It's a double CD. I am under the impression that they tend to play their newest album when on tour, but I don't know for sure as it's been five years since I've seen them. Either way, their set was TIGHT and NOISY and AMAZING, so I'll be picking up the new CD very soon.

JOREL: BUCK UP

I really regret not seeing them Saturday night as well. Also, they had almost their entire catalog at the merch table and I didn't bring any money. I totally blew it duders.

why do old people and old users of ILX such bastardos (deangulberry), Monday, 20 September 2004 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I am feeling a little better since haircut, tho no job interviews on horizon (dammit).

Also, I haven't heard them with their new bassist and I've a feeling I'd be disappointed.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 20 September 2004 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

It sounds to me like you're bringing the disappointment with you.

why do old people and old users of ILX such bastardos (deangulberry), Monday, 20 September 2004 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

well yeah, duh. Anyway their old bassist was awesome though.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 20 September 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I THOUGHT THIS THREAD WAS GONNA BE ABOUT COLD HEARTED GIRLS THAT DID DEAN-O WRONG-O.

JOGGERS AND SMOGGERS IS GOOD TIME.

ddb (ddb), Monday, 20 September 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

2cd makes it better i guess. but other t&g cds were equally over-priced as they have been for years.

eh, i don't wanna berate somebody for trying to make a living, but sheesh and jeez even. let's drive the mooks who actually pay for music still to the p2party. i'll just have to hope for used bin snack action.

smoggers and joggers is greatness. another regalure time fave is the ex-orchestra stuff. dignity of labour.

msp (msp), Monday, 20 September 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

T&G is clueless, duderman. I give it another five years, tops.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 20 September 2004 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

of releasing new stuff, I mean. prolly will keep back catalog in print forever.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 20 September 2004 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

T&G = the new SST

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 20 September 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

we live in NYC, people who live here talk about this shit all the time even though we say we could care less. It's how it works.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 20 September 2004 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i love teh ex. never seen them put on a bad show, no matter what line-up changes have occurred or what the newest material is like. and they're so nice!

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 20 September 2004 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Han Bennink was really great too.

why do old people and old users of ILX such bastardos (deangulberry), Monday, 20 September 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

is he playing with them on this tour?

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 20 September 2004 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah. He came out during the encore and they did two songs.

why do old people and old users of ILX such bastardos (deangulberry), Monday, 20 September 2004 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

ah, nice. He's pretty awesome, still has it. Saw him a few times in various jazz lineups in Chicago. Wish I could've seen him back in the day, though.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 20 September 2004 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

double CD w/ Hans and Mats and other jazzbos, quite good. CDs w/ Tom Cora = AMAZING, especially the first one Scrabbling at the Lock w/ Catherine Janioux. Scrabbling at the Lock = one of the most awesome albums ever. My sister saw The Ex w/ Tom Cora in London many moons ago.

The guitarist from the Prosaics is writing a book about them.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 20 September 2004 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

saw them the other night here in Philly. the geezers really set it on fire, and I was duly impressed. been waiting to see them ever since they had to cancel the New Orleans show due to 9/11 crapola. they rocked the fuck rock.

mayo apetrain (mayoape), Monday, 20 September 2004 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)
