gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Sam's felafel stand at LIBERTY PLAZA, brody. $2.50 sammiches, all the fixin's.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Mamoun's is $2. What exactly does ALL THE FIXINS ENTAIL? I got myself from LETTUCE, TOMATO, ONION, TAHINI, HOT SAUCE & (for an extra $0.50) HUMMUS.

ALSO, DOES SAM HAVE YUM YUM LENTIL SOUP?

Ian c=====8 (orion), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

or baba, instead of hummus. i am as of yet undecided... it really depends on if i have quarters!

Ian c=====8 (orion), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

"i'll have a falafel with hot sauce, a side order of baba ghannouj, and a selzer"

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

FACT:

baba ghannouj means "spoiled old daddy" in arabic.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

$3.50 = falafel with hummus & a coke. or $2 = falafel and a cup of water??? hmmm.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

falafel with baba and water is my suggestion. baba is so good.

Holly (an appletross), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

mmm baba.

then i'm gonna go sit in the park and look at girls & listen to Born Heller.

I'm out dudes!

Ian c=====8 (orion), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i want falafel. =(

Holly (an appletross), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

all the fixins = hummus, baba, lettuce, tomato, eggplant, hotsauce, tahini.

combo platter is $3.50.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

oh onion too.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

fuck an eggplant! really going now.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

no dolma?

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

mamoun's is sooooooo good.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

actually I get it sans eggplant too, I think I'm allergic.

Mamoun's is great but I'm hardly ever in that neck of the woods.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

RAINBOW FALAFEL.
17ST & UNION SQ.
PWNZ ALL.

ddb (ddb), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:56 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, hell yes!

but newcomer chickpea on 3rd ave @ st. mark's place is a strong contender.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

seriously, Sam's Felafel Stand is a boon to us Wall St.-area workers.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 23 September 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't think anyone is trying to denigrate sam's, h. we're all just sharing our thoughts.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 23 September 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Nothing compared to Alfanoose on Fulton Street, but it shuttered a few months ago. On Chowhound, there was a post about it reopening at 8 Maiden Lane in June, but that's come and gone.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Thursday, 23 September 2004 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

gabbneb, you are a lawyer right?

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 23 September 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Fucking Chickpea = expensive. That neighborhood is too saturated with falafel places. The one on 2nd & St. Mark's, Cinderella, is pretty good--they have their "special" falafels which are huge and include just about everything under the sun. Tabouleh, hummus, veggies of all sorts, etc. And you get a soda for like $5. Better than that other craptacular place on St. Mark's.

FWIW: I got falafel w/ babaganouj and a coke. Then I ate it in the park and talked to the girl with the Amoeba Records shirt.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Thursday, 23 September 2004 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

huh, gabbneb, that's close to me but I've never heard of it. Too bad I missed it.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 23 September 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

felafel and real mint iced tea at chickpea cost me just over $4.. i don't think that's expensive.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 23 September 2004 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

the same thing would cost $2.75 @ Mamoun's duder! though i guess the mint tea would not be iced, you would have to ice it yourself.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Thursday, 23 September 2004 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

IAN ALL YOU DO IS EAT AND GO TO SHOWS AND TALK TO GIRLS

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 23 September 2004 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

but what if you're right by chickpea and not near mamoun's?

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 23 September 2004 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

it's a grand life.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 23 September 2004 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 24 September 2004 01:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I was too hasty! They are open at that address as of today!

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 19:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I always feel bad for calling it "falafel", cuz it contains the phonetic "awful". We should start calling it falawesome.

Is the one on St. Marks more expensive?

roc u like a § (ex machina), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 16:17 (nineteen years ago)

why would it be? plenty of competetion from place down the block and chickpea....if theyre hoping to get by on repuation alone, they better keep price down...

of course, now, i cant recall how much a falafel is on mulberry...like 3 bucks?

bb (bbrz), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 16:31 (nineteen years ago)

isn't it on macdougal?
